US-Iran Conflict : Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply on Friday after Iran claimed that a recent US missile strike destroyed the maritime traffic control tower at Chabahar Port, while Tehran announced a series of retaliatory military operations targeting American military facilities across the region.
The claims come amid an intensifying confrontation between the United States and Iran, with both sides accusing each other of escalating military action. Many of the claims made by Iran have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate confirmation from US authorities regarding several of the reported incidents.
Iran Claims US Strike Destroyed Chabahar Port Control Tower
Iran said the latest US attack targeted Chabahar Port, located in the country’s Makran coastal region, destroying a maritime traffic control tower.
According to statements carried by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, three missiles struck what Iranian authorities described as a fully civilian maritime infrastructure facility.
Iran condemned the attack as a “heinous assault,” alleging that it endangered civilian maritime safety and threatened the livelihoods of local fishermen.
Tehran further accused Washington of violating international norms and ignoring agreements that it had previously supported.
The United States had not immediately responded publicly to these specific allegations.
Iran Claims Strike on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar
Iran also announced that its armed forces had launched what it described as the 15th wave of retaliatory operations, claiming to have targeted the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
According to Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed the operation damaged long-range radar systems and several US aerial refueling aircraft stationed at the base.
The United States and Qatari authorities had not independently confirmed those claims at the time of reporting.
IRGC Warns of Further Retaliation
In a statement carried by Iranian media, the IRGC warned that the United States and countries hosting American military installations in the region would face severe consequences if attacks against Iran continued.
The statement claimed additional retaliatory operations would follow if military action persisted.
These remarks represent the IRGC’s stated position and remain part of the ongoing exchange of claims between the two sides.
Iran Reports US Strikes on Bridges in Southern Region
Iranian officials also alleged that recent US attacks targeted several bridges in Hormozgan Province in southern Iran.
According to the semi-official Fars News Agency, several of the damaged bridges are located along transportation routes connected to Bandar Abbas, the strategic port city near the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian media further reported that a railway junction in Bandar Abbas had previously been targeted.
State media said at least seven people were killed and nine others injured in the latest attacks. These casualty figures have not been independently verified.
Jordan Says It Intercepted Three Missiles
Jordan’s military announced that it intercepted three missiles that entered its airspace.
The Jordanian Armed Forces stated that there were no casualties or property damage resulting from the incident.
Iran has not claimed responsibility for those missiles. However, Jordan noted that Iranian projectiles have crossed toward its territory on multiple occasions during the recent escalation.
Air Raid Sirens Activated in Bahrain
Authorities in Bahrain activated nationwide air raid warning sirens after Iranian forces reportedly claimed they had targeted US helicopters and reconnaissance aircraft near the Sakhir Air Base.
Bahrain’s Interior Ministry urged residents to remain calm, move to the nearest safe location, and follow official instructions.
Neither Bahrain nor the United States immediately confirmed that the air base had been struck.
Regional Tensions Continue to Rise
The latest developments underscore the rapidly deteriorating security situation across the Middle East, with military actions and counterclaims involving strategic infrastructure, regional airspace, and US military facilities.
Analysts warn that continued escalation could increase the risk of a broader regional conflict affecting maritime security, energy supplies, and international trade routes.
