Planning a visit to Ayodhya’s Ram Temple could become much easier for devotees. Under a revised Sugam Darshan pass system announced by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, visitors will be able to apply for darshan passes up to 90 days in advance, instead of the earlier 15-day window.
The proposed changes also include a significant increase in the number of online passes available to general devotees, from 975 to 2,000 per day. The new system is designed to help visitors plan train journeys, accommodation and other travel arrangements well ahead of their visit to the temple.
However, devotees should pay attention to one important detail: submitting an advance application will not automatically confirm a darshan pass. Applications will undergo technical verification, and applicants will generally be informed of the decision within 24 to 48 hours.
Ram Lalla Darshan: What Is Changing?
The revised system introduces a longer advance-booking window and multiple stages for releasing passes. Instead of making all advance passes available at once, the Trust plans to release them at seven intervals before the scheduled darshan date.
The changes are intended to improve access for devotees while helping the temple administration manage demand and identify suspicious booking activity.
Here are the key changes outlined in the new arrangement:
- Advance booking: Applications can be made up to 90 days before the darshan date.
- Daily online passes: The stated allocation for general devotees increases from 975 to 2,000.
- Seven booking stages: Passes will be made available 90, 62, 30, 14, seven, three and one day before darshan.
- Same-day passes: A separate provision will allow devotees to obtain Tatkal passes on the day of darshan.
- Verification: Advance applications will undergo technical checks before a decision is communicated.
- No fee: Sugam Darshan passes are free, according to the Trust.
Seven Booking Windows: How the New System Will Work
Under the revised arrangement, advance passes will be released in seven stages based on the number of days remaining before the selected darshan date.
| Booking stage | When passes are released |
| First window | 90 days before darshan |
| Second window | 62 days before darshan |
| Third window | 30 days before darshan |
| Fourth window | 14 days before darshan |
| Fifth window | 7 days before darshan |
| Sixth window | 3 days before darshan |
| Seventh window | 1 day before darshan |
This staggered approach is intended to give devotees more opportunities to apply instead of requiring everyone to book within a single short window.
For families traveling from other states, the longer booking period could make it easier to coordinate rail reservations, accommodation and other arrangements around the planned visit.
The availability of passes will still depend on the booking schedule and the arrangements implemented by the Trust.
Why Advance Applications May Take 24–48 Hours
The revised process is also intended to address the misuse of online bookings. Under the proposed verification system, submitting an application will not result in immediate confirmation of an advance pass.
Instead, applications will undergo technical scrutiny. The Trust says applicants will generally receive information about the decision within 24 to 48 hours.
This distinction matters for devotees making travel arrangements. An application receipt should not be treated as proof that a darshan pass has been issued. Visitors should wait for confirmation before relying on an advance booking.
The process is designed to help identify unusual or suspicious booking patterns and improve the management of online pass requests.
The same waiting period will not apply to Tatkal passes issued on the day of darshan. Their confirmation is expected to be provided immediately, subject to the applicable arrangements and availability.
Ram Temple Darshan Passes Will Remain Free
The Trust has reiterated that Sugam Darshan passes are free of charge. Devotees do not need to pay an agent or an intermediary to obtain one.
A complaint mechanism is also being arranged for cases in which someone demands money in exchange for a pass. According to the information provided by the Trust, complaint details will be prominently displayed on each pass, and the designated mobile number is expected to become operational within a week.
Devotees should be cautious of anyone claiming to offer guaranteed passes in exchange for payment. They should use the Trust’s official booking channels and verify the complaint contact details before relying on them.
What Devotees Should Do Before Planning Their Visit
The extended booking window could make a major difference for people traveling long distances to Ayodhya. Nevertheless, visitors should confirm that the revised system is operational before finalizing their plans.
Keep these points in mind:
- Check the official Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust website for the latest booking instructions.
- Review the available booking windows for your intended darshan date.
- Remember that an advance application is not the same as a confirmed pass.
- Wait for the verification decision before treating your pass as approved.
- Do not pay anyone for a Sugam Darshan pass.
- Confirm the official complaint number and contact details before reporting suspected fraud.
The Bottom Line
The proposed changes to Ayodhya’s Sugam Darshan pass system could give devotees more flexibility by extending advance applications from 15 days to 90 days and increasing the stated daily online allocation to 2,000 passes.
The staggered release schedule and verification process are intended to make bookings more manageable and discourage misuse. For devotees, the most important steps are to apply through official channels, wait for confirmation and remember that the pass is free.
