July 2026 scooter sales placed the Honda Activa firmly at the top of India’s best-selling scooter chart, even as its monthly volume declined from a year earlier. Indian manufacturers dispatched 798,190 scooters in the domestic market during July. Exports added another 73,165 units, taking combined domestic and overseas volume to 871,355 units.
Total scooter dispatches increased 23.75% from 704,108 units in July 2025. Domestic volume also rose 23.75%, while exports expanded 23.83% year over year. Industry data placed July domestic scooter sales at their second-highest monthly level. Industry scooter-sales analysis
Honda Activa Remains India’s Best-Selling Scooter
Honda Activa retained the No. 1 position with 206,170 units dispatched in July 2026. However, sales declined 13.16% from 237,413 units in the corresponding month last year.
Despite that decline, Activa accounted for approximately 30% of the combined volume generated by the 10 leading scooter models. Its substantial lead demonstrates the model’s continued strength in India’s mass-market scooter segment.
Activa was also one of only two models in the top-10 ranking to report a year-over-year decline.
TVS Jupiter Closes the Gap With 19% Growth
TVS Jupiter finished second with 148,595 units, compared with 124,876 units in July 2025. That represented annual growth of 18.99%.
Although Activa retained a lead of more than 57,000 units, Jupiter’s growth contrasted sharply with the Honda model’s decline. The performance strengthened TVS Jupiter’s position as Activa’s closest competitor in the conventional scooter market.
Suzuki Access Holds Third Position
Suzuki Access ranked third after recording 82,505 units in July. Sales increased 21.02% from 68,172 units a year earlier.
Access remained the highest-ranked Suzuki scooter and the third-best-selling internal-combustion model in the country. Its continued growth also shows that gasoline-powered scooters remain in strong demand despite the rapid expansion of electric alternatives.

The model’s volume increased 157.87% from 23,029 units in July 2025. It was also one of two electric scooters to enter the overall top five, illustrating how quickly battery-powered products are moving into the mainstream market.
Bajaj Chetak Records the Biggest Percentage Increase
Bajaj Chetak delivered the fastest year-over-year growth among the 10 leading models.
The electric scooter’s volume rose from 11,584 units in July 2025 to 47,184 units in July 2026—an increase of 307.32%. Chetak consequently climbed to fifth place in the combined scooter ranking.
Bajaj has been expanding Chetak capacity as electric products take on a larger role in its domestic business. The company has also outlined plans to deepen its electric-vehicle portfolio.
Ather Rizta More Than Doubles Its Volume
Ather Rizta ranked ninth with 24,833 units, compared with 11,345 units a year earlier.
That translated into annual growth of 118.89%, making Rizta the third model in the top 10 to post a triple-digit increase. The family-oriented scooter has developed into a major volume product for Ather.
Hero Vida did not enter the overall model top 10 but registered a reported 22,707 units, representing year-over-year growth of 102.29%.
TVS Ntorq and Yamaha RayZR Deliver Strong Gains

EV Share Reaches 11.24% of Two-Wheeler Retail
Electric vehicles accounted for 11.24% of India’s total two-wheeler retail registrations in July 2026, up from 10.59% in June and 7.65% in July 2025.
Electric two-wheeler registrations reached approximately 204,362 units, an increase of 88.32% year over year. This retail-registration dataset covers electric scooters and motorcycles and is separate from the model-level manufacturer dispatch figures used in the top-10 table. What the July Results Show
Honda Activa continues to command the largest individual customer base, but its annual decline comes as competing gasoline and electric models expand rapidly.
TVS placed three products—Jupiter, iQube and Ntorq—among the top six. Meanwhile, iQube, Chetak and Rizta demonstrated that electric scooters are no longer confined to a small premium niche.
If this growth continues, the competitive gap between traditional market leaders and emerging electric models could narrow further. Nevertheless, monthly dispatches can fluctuate because of dealer inventory, production schedules and festive-season preparation, making longer-term sales trends more meaningful than a single month’s result.
