The HONOR Robot Phone has suddenly surged in Google searches, pulling attention back to a smartphone that does something ordinary devices cannot—its motorised camera can physically move, follow a subject, nod, shake and even dance to music.
This is not simply another phone packed with AI filters. HONOR has placed a miniature robotic gimbal inside the device, allowing its camera to emerge from the body and move independently.
The phone has already entered commercial sale in China. However, buyers in India should curb their excitement for now because HONOR has not announced an official India launch date or Indian price.
Why Is the HONOR Robot Phone Different?
The biggest attraction is the 4-DoF Titanium Agile Gimbal, which combines a three-axis stabilisation mechanism with additional physical movement.
According to HONOR’s official product announcement, the compact system contains more than 100 precision components and is supported by over 100 patents.
Unlike a conventional smartphone camera that remains fixed inside the body, this mechanical unit can respond to movement and adjust its viewing angle.
The company says the gimbal can:
- Follow a moving subject during video recording
- Stabilise footage through physical camera movement
- Support all-angle video calling
- Nod or shake to express an AI response
- Move to the rhythm of music
- Perform 90-degree and 180-degree spin shots
HONOR describes this combination of physical movement and artificial intelligence as “embodied AI.”
A Phone Camera That Can Follow You
The Robot Phone’s AI object-tracking feature is designed to identify and follow a selected subject automatically.
A user can double-tap a person or object, after which the camera attempts to maintain focus even if the subject moves suddenly or is briefly blocked from view.
This could be useful for solo content creators, video calls, fitness demonstrations and moving family videos. It could also reduce the need for a separate handheld gimbal in certain situations.
However, real-world durability, repairability and long-term motor performance will remain important questions. A moving camera introduces mechanical complexity that conventional sealed smartphone cameras largely avoid.

ARRI Imaging Partnership Raises the Stakes
HONOR has worked with professional cinema-camera company ARRI to incorporate selected elements of its image science and production workflow.
The company is not claiming that the Robot Phone replaces an ARRI cinema camera. Instead, the partnership focuses on colour, visual aesthetics and mobile filmmaking tools.
The phone’s mechanical stabilisation, AI tracking and spin-shot modes are clearly aimed at vloggers, filmmakers and social-media creators who want more cinematic camera movement without carrying additional equipment.

The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform and includes a custom cooling system for demanding AI and video workloads.

The YOYO AI system can interpret user instructions and perform supported multi-step tasks across applications and phone settings.

HONOR Robot Phone Price
HONOR has launched two configurations in China:

Will the HONOR Robot Phone Launch in India?
HONOR has not confirmed the Robot Phone’s India launch date, price or retail availability.
Therefore, claims suggesting that the device is already available officially in India should be treated cautiously. Importing the China model could also create complications involving network compatibility, software services, warranty support and repairs.
An India launch would likely depend on local certification, software compatibility and HONOR’s regional sales strategy.

The Robot Phone offers one of the smartphone industry’s most unusual hardware ideas in years. It turns the camera from a passive component into a moving, responsive part of the device.
