Dr. DP Sharma Anshdani Foundation: Environmental Campaign Gets Global Boost with Honorary Director Appointment

JAIPUR: Dr. DP Sharma Anshdani Foundation collaboration has taken a significant step forward after the internationally recognized environmental advocate and United Nations Lead Author was appointed as the Honorary Director of the organization. The appointment is expected to strengthen the foundation’s efforts to promote sustainable cremation practices and expand its environmental initiatives across India and beyond.

Anshdani Foundation Advances Net-Zero Cremation Mission

Anshdani Foundation has been working on environmental conservation and cow protection initiatives with a strong focus on reducing carbon emissions generated during traditional cremation practices. The organization aims to address an estimated 9 million tonnes of carbon emissions produced annually from conventional funeral pyres by promoting eco-friendly alternatives.

As part of this mission, the foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jaipur Municipal Corporation and adopted 11 cremation grounds. At these facilities, traditional firewood has been replaced with cow dung logs (Gomay Samidha) for free cremation services.

According to the foundation, more than 1,000 eco-friendly cremations have already been conducted free of charge under this initiative. The campaign continues to expand with the objective of encouraging sustainable funeral practices while reducing environmental impact.

Community Partnerships Drive Expansion

The foundation has also started partnering with various social organizations to broaden the reach of the campaign. Under long-term lease agreements with municipal authorities, several cremation grounds are being renovated and upgraded.

These efforts are intended to ensure the continued availability of free cremation services using cow dung logs instead of conventional wood, supporting both environmental sustainability and resource conservation.

Foundation Leaders Welcome Dr. Sharma

Speaking about the appointment, Anshdani Foundation Directors Kavita Khandelwal and Sapna Mukim said that Dr. DP Sharma’s global experience and leadership would significantly strengthen the organization’s mission.

They noted that Dr. Sharma serves as a United Nations Lead Author and Digital Diplomat and is also recognized as a Brand Ambassador for the Swachh Bharat Mission. His association with the foundation is expected to enhance the visibility of its environmental initiatives at both national and international levels.

Prominent Leaders Attend the Ceremony

The appointment ceremony was attended by several distinguished personalities, including Dr. P. M. Bhardwaj, a nationally recognized motivational and management expert and Chief Advisor of Gaumaya. Dr. Bhardwaj has previously served as Managing Director and Chairman of four Government of India public sector enterprises.

Renowned social activist and Anshdani Foundation founder Dr. Sitaram Gupta was also present during the event.

A Step Toward Sustainable Environmental Practices

With Dr. DP Sharma joining its leadership team, Anshdani Foundation aims to further expand its campaign promoting environmentally responsible cremation methods. The organization believes that broader community participation and institutional partnerships will play an important role in reducing carbon emissions while encouraging sustainable practices across India.
