Skoda Sedan India 2026 plans have taken a major turn with the Czech automaker confirming the return of two enthusiast favorites — the high-performance Octavia RS and the diesel-powered Superb TDI — as it strengthens its sedan portfolio alongside the updated Slavia.
The two cars are aimed at very different buyers. The Octavia RS is designed for enthusiasts seeking serious performance in a practical premium sedan, while the Superb TDI is focused on luxury, rear-seat comfort, advanced safety and long-distance diesel performance.
There is one catch: neither will be a mass-market offering.
The latest Octavia RS allocation is restricted to just 50 units, while the Superb TDI is expected to reach customers only in the second quarter of 2027.
Octavia RS Bookings Reopen With Just 50 Cars
Skoda has opened a new allocation of the Octavia RS for India following strong demand for the previous batch.
The fresh batch is restricted to 50 units, making the performance sedan one of the most exclusive new Skoda models available in the country.
Pre-bookings opened at ₹2.50 lakh.
Customers who had booked the Octavia RS during the earlier allocation but failed to secure a car were given priority access before bookings were opened more widely.
That means merely placing a booking does not automatically guarantee an allocation, given the extremely limited number of cars.
When Will New Octavia RS Deliveries Begin?
Skoda plans to begin deliveries of the latest Octavia RS batch around the start of the festive season.
That makes the waiting period considerably shorter than for the Superb TDI.
For buyers who missed the previous Octavia RS allocation, the new 50-car batch offers another opportunity — although availability is likely to remain extremely tight.
Octavia RS Gets a 265 PS Turbo-Petrol Engine
Performance remains the biggest attraction of the Octavia RS.
The sedan uses a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine producing 195 kW, or 265 PS, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
Skoda claims the Octavia RS can accelerate from:
0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.
That puts the car firmly in performance-sedan territory.
The RS also receives progressive steering and a dedicated sports chassis designed to offer sharper handling than a conventional executive sedan.
Octavia RS Features: More Than Just Extra Power
Skoda has not limited the RS treatment to the engine.
The Octavia RS combines its powertrain with a range of driver-oriented equipment.
Key features include:
- Head-up display
- Advanced driver-assistance systems
- Progressive steering
- RS-specific sports chassis
- Power-adjustable sports seats
- Heated front seats
- Massage function
- Matrix LED headlights
- RS-specific steering wheel
- Sports exhaust with visible tailpipes
Skoda’s official India page also highlights integrated-headrest RS sports seats, ambient lighting and carbon-look cabin trim.
The result is a sedan designed to deliver performance without giving up everyday practicality.
Octavia RS Gets Three Color Choices
The fresh India allocation is expected in three exterior colors:
Mamba Green
Velvet Red
Magic Black
The limited selection reinforces the RS’s more focused, enthusiast-oriented positioning.
Superb TDI Makes a Much-Awaited Diesel Comeback
The second major announcement is arguably even more significant for long-distance luxury-car buyers.
The Skoda Superb TDI is returning to India with diesel power.
Skoda’s official Indian website lists the upcoming Superb with a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine producing 110 kW, equivalent to around 150 PS.
Maximum torque is rated at:
360 Nm
The engine is paired with a:
7-speed DSG automatic transmission
Power is sent to the front wheels.
Superb TDI Could Appeal to Highway-Focused Buyers
Unlike the Octavia RS, the Superb is not primarily designed around outright acceleration.
Its diesel engine emphasizes torque, refinement and long-distance usability.
For buyers who spend substantial time on highways, the combination of diesel torque, automatic transmission and the Superb’s traditionally spacious cabin could prove especially attractive.
The car is expected to return as the range-topping Laurin & Klement, or L&K, trim.
Superb TDI Gets 10 Airbags and Level 2 ADAS
Safety is one of the biggest highlights of the India-bound Superb.
The upcoming sedan is expected to feature:
10 airbags
Level 2 ADAS
360-degree camera
Electronic parking brake
Tire-pressure monitoring system
Automatic parking assistance
The Level 2 ADAS package gives the Superb a significantly more sophisticated safety and driver-assistance package than older generations sold in India.
Luxury Features Put Superb Above Octavia RS
Where the Octavia RS emphasizes performance, the Superb focuses heavily on comfort.
Skoda’s official India page highlights Cognac leather, massage seats and a Rear Sleep Package.
The broader equipment list includes:
- Matrix LED headlights
- LED taillights
- Cognac-themed cabin
- Powered front seats
- Seat memory
- Heating
- Ventilation
- Massage function
- Rear sunblinds
- Rear Sleep Package
- 360-degree camera
- Canton premium audio system
- Three-zone climate control
- Wireless phone charging
- Powered tailgate
The Rear Sleep Package includes specially designed rear headrests aimed at improving comfort during long journeys.
Superb Gets Dynamic Chassis Control
The Superb TDI will also receive Dynamic Chassis Control, or DCC.
The system can adjust the car’s suspension and handling characteristics depending on road conditions, driving mode and speed.
Progressive Dynamic Steering is also part of the India-spec package.
Together, these systems are intended to balance comfort with more controlled handling when required.
When Can Buyers Book the Superb TDI?
Unlike the Octavia RS, regular bookings for the Superb have not yet opened.
Skoda is currently accepting Expressions of Interest for the upcoming sedan through its India channels. Its official website lists the model as “Coming soon” and allows customers to register interest.
This is an important distinction.
An Expression of Interest is not necessarily a confirmed vehicle booking or allocation.
How Long Is the Wait for Superb TDI?
Buyers interested in the Superb will need considerably more patience.
Customer deliveries are expected to begin toward the end of the second quarter of 2027.
In practical terms, that means buyers registering interest now could be waiting until around mid-2027 before deliveries begin.
The longer timeline contrasts sharply with the Octavia RS, whose second-batch deliveries are scheduled around the upcoming festive season.
Will the Superb Be Imported?
The new-generation Superb is expected to reach India as a Completely Built Unit, or CBU, import in L&K specification.
That approach allows Skoda to bring a relatively low-volume premium model to India without establishing local assembly.
However, CBU imports generally carry substantially higher duties, meaning the Superb is likely to sit firmly in premium luxury-sedan territory.
Official pricing has not yet been announced.
Octavia RS vs Superb TDI: Which One Is for You?
Although both cars carry the Skoda badge and sedan body style, their characters are fundamentally different.
Choose the Octavia RS if you want:
- 265 PS turbo-petrol performance
- Rapid acceleration
- Sports chassis
- Progressive steering
- Driver-focused cabin
- Limited-edition exclusivity
- Quicker delivery timeline
Choose the Superb TDI if you want:
- Diesel torque
- More rear-seat space
- Higher comfort levels
- 10 airbags
- Level 2 ADAS
- Massage and ventilated seats
- Rear Sleep Package
- DCC suspension
- Premium long-distance touring capability
The Octavia RS is the emotional enthusiast’s choice.
The Superb TDI is positioned as the luxury executive cruiser.
Why Skoda Is Betting on Sedans Again
The announcements are notable because SUVs continue to dominate India’s passenger-vehicle market.
Yet Skoda is making a clear attempt to maintain a meaningful sedan presence.
Its strategy now covers three distinct segments:
Slavia: mainstream midsize sedan
Octavia RS: premium performance sedan
Superb TDI: executive luxury diesel sedan
That gives the company one of the most varied sedan portfolios among mainstream European brands operating in India.
Diesel Returns to Skoda’s Premium Lineup
The Superb is particularly important because it marks the return of a diesel Skoda to India after years of petrol-focused offerings.
The Volkswagen Group stopped selling diesel-powered passenger cars in India around the transition to BS6 emissions standards.
The new 2.0 TDI Superb therefore represents a significant change in strategy for the brand.
Its return could also test whether there remains enough demand for high-end diesel sedans among Indian highway and executive-car buyers.
How Much Could the Superb Cost?
Skoda has not announced the official India price of the new Superb TDI.
Because the car is expected to be imported as a CBU and offered in high-spec L&K trim, market estimates place it in the premium end of the segment.
Any projected price should currently be treated as an estimate rather than an official figure.
Final pricing is expected closer to launch.
What About Octavia RS Price?
The previous Octavia RS batch was introduced at an ex-showroom price of ₹49.99 lakh.
However, pricing and terms for individual allocations should always be checked directly with Skoda when confirming a booking, particularly because imported-car pricing can change.
The ₹2.50 lakh figure relates to the current pre-booking amount for the second allocation.
The Biggest Difference Is the Waiting Time
For prospective customers, availability may ultimately be the deciding factor.
The Octavia RS is limited to only 50 additional cars, making it extremely difficult to secure.
But buyers who receive an allocation could get their cars around the start of the festive season.
The Superb offers a more relaxed registration process through Expressions of Interest but requires a much longer wait, with deliveries planned for Q2 2027.
Skoda’s Sedan Comeback Explained
The Skoda Sedan India 2026 strategy therefore gives Indian customers two very different premium choices.
The Octavia RS returns as an aggressively focused performance sedan with 265 PS, a 7-speed DSG and a 6.4-second 0-100 km/h time.
The Superb TDI answers a different demand with its 150 PS diesel engine, 360 Nm torque, luxury cabin, 10 airbags and Level 2 ADAS.
The biggest challenge may not be deciding which one to buy.
For the Octavia RS, it will be securing one of only 50 cars.
For the Superb TDI, it will be waiting until 2027.
