Varanasi, October 25, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi on Sunday, with a new garment manufacturing facility and a major Indian Air Force aerial display featuring among the day’s key engagements. The visit combines an industrial development initiative focused on women’s employment with a public aviation showcase over the Ganga.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office announcement carried by the Press Information Bureau, Modi is scheduled to inaugurate Arvind Limited’s new garment manufacturing facility at around 11 a.m. before attending the Air Force Day Aerial Display-2026 at Namo Ghat at approximately 1 p.m. The aerial event marks the 94th anniversary of the Indian Air Force and is being held under the theme “Wings Over Ganges.”

New Garment Unit Aims to Create Jobs for Local Women

The Prime Minister’s Varanasi programme is set to begin at a new garment manufacturing facility in the Khochwan area of Mirzamurad. The unit is expected to strengthen the region’s textile and apparel manufacturing sector while creating employment opportunities, particularly for women.

Around 300 women have reportedly received training for work at the facility. The project’s stated employment target is approximately 1,000 local women, although the final number of jobs will depend on the unit’s operational expansion and recruitment.

The facility is expected to manufacture garments such as T-shirts, shorts, undergarments and other apparel. Its products are also intended to reach international markets, connecting manufacturing activity in Varanasi with a wider customer base.

The project has been associated with Uttar Pradesh’s investment-promotion efforts under Invest UP. Local reports have cited an investment of approximately ₹100 crore to ₹150 crore for the facility, spread across around seven acres. The differing figures should be confirmed against the company’s or government’s final project details.

For the surrounding area, the unit’s significance will depend not only on its investment but also on the number of women it employs, the quality of training provided and the stability of the jobs created. Local recruitment and skill development could help more women enter formal manufacturing work and gain experience in apparel production.

‘Wings Over Ganga’: Air Force Display at Namo Ghat

After the factory inauguration, Modi is scheduled to travel to Namo Ghat to witness the Indian Air Force’s aerial display. The event is the concluding programme in a series of performances held in Varanasi on October 22, 24 and 25.

The display is expected to feature fighter aircraft, helicopters, transport aircraft and specialist aerobatic teams. Aircraft listed in advance programme reports include the Rafale, Su-30MKI and Tejas, along with the Light Combat Helicopter Prachand. The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and the Sarang Helicopter Display Team are also scheduled to participate.

Aircraft from the Indian Army and Indian Navy are expected to join the programme, highlighting coordination among the country’s armed services. The manoeuvres will demonstrate precision flying, formation coordination and the operational capabilities of participating aircraft.

The Ganga and Varanasi’s historic riverfront provide the setting for the event, which is expected to draw residents and visitors to the city’s ghats. The aerial display also forms part of the Indian Air Force’s anniversary celebrations.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are among the senior leaders expected to attend. Governor Anandiben Patel is also scheduled to be associated with the garment-facility programme.

13 Welcome Points Planned Along the Route

Preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit include 13 designated welcome points along the route between the Police Lines area and Namo Ghat, according to local reports.

Organisers have planned traditional welcomes featuring drums, conch-shell sounds, damru performances and flower showers. Music and dance programmes are also expected to showcase elements of Kashi’s cultural traditions.

Women members of the BJP’s Mahila Morcha are expected to participate in the welcome arrangements near the Police Lines entrance. The route-side events are intended to mark the Prime Minister’s arrival in the city and accompany his movement towards the air-show venue.

Security and traffic arrangements are expected to affect movement around key locations, including the airport route, the industrial facility, Police Lines and Namo Ghat. Residents and visitors should check local traffic and police advisories before travelling through the affected areas.

What the Visit Means for Varanasi

The two principal engagements highlight different aspects of the city’s development: manufacturing-led employment and a major national aviation event.

The garment unit’s longer-term impact will be measured by the jobs it actually creates, the training available to local workers and its ability to sustain production for domestic and export markets. For women entering the workforce, access to stable employment and practical skills could be particularly significant.

The air show, meanwhile, brings the Indian Air Force’s anniversary celebrations to one of India’s most prominent riverfront settings. Its programme is designed to showcase aerial skill, aircraft capability and coordination across the armed services.

Modi is also scheduled to travel to Bhubaneswar later on Sunday to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute, according to the official programme.

The Bottom Line

PM Modi’s October 25 visit to Varanasi centres on the inauguration of Arvind Limited’s garment manufacturing facility and the Indian Air Force’s “Wings Over Ganga” aerial display at Namo Ghat. The planned employment of around 1,000 local women gives the industrial project a significant local dimension, while the air show places the city at the centre of the Air Force’s 94th-anniversary celebrations.

Editorial note: The visit schedule is based on the official programme announced ahead of October 25. The projected employment figure and reported investment range should be checked against final company or government data before publication.
