Rahul Gandhi Haldwani purification row intensified on Wednesday as the BJP’s Scheduled Caste Morcha performed a “Buddhi Shuddhi” Yagya for Rahul Gandhi in Dehradun, while Congress workers stepped up protests over the FIR against the Leader of the Opposition and the earlier purification controversy in Haldwani.
The latest BJP action has pushed an Uttarakhand dispute into a wider national political confrontation involving Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, caste discrimination allegations, the SC/ST Act and competing claims from the BJP and Congress.

Party workers displayed Rahul Gandhi’s photograph during the ritual and attacked his statements about the Haldwani controversy.
The BJP’s move immediately intensified the confrontation.
Instead of allowing the dispute to cool after the FIR against Rahul Gandhi, the party’s SC wing opened a fresh political front against him.
The BJP argues that Rahul Gandhi gave a caste angle to the Haldwani episode and unfairly targeted the party.
Congress strongly disagrees.

How the Haldwani Purification Row Began

Police deployed personnel around the protest route and detained several Congress workers as demonstrators raised slogans and attempted to move toward the Secretariat.
Congress leaders demanded action against those responsible for the original Haldwani ritual.
They also demanded that authorities withdraw the FIR against Rahul Gandhi.
Meanwhile, Congress units outside Uttarakhand have also protested over the controversy, giving the issue a wider political footprint.

Congress now plans to intensify the campaign further.
The party has announced a September 7 march towards the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s residence.
