Pixxel $100 Million Funding has delivered a major boost to India’s rapidly expanding private space industry as Google-backed satellite technology company Pixxel raised $100 million in a Series C round, marking the largest single funding round by a space-technology company in India.

Singapore state investment company Temasek and space-focused investment firm Seraphim co-led the round.

The latest investment takes Pixxel’s total funding to $195 million and gives the Bengaluru-founded company fresh capital to expand its satellite constellation, Earth intelligence software, advanced imaging technologies and sovereign space systems.

The funding also arrives as India accelerates private-sector participation in satellites, launch services, Earth observation and space manufacturing.

Pixxel Raises $100 Million in Series C Funding

Pixxel announced the completion of its $100 million Series C round on Monday.

Along with Temasek and Seraphim, the round attracted new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment.

Existing investors including Radical Ventures and growX Ventures also participated.

The scale of the round makes it an important milestone not only for Pixxel but also for India’s broader space startup ecosystem.

Private Indian space companies have attracted increasing investor attention since the government opened more of the sector to private participation.

Pixxel now stands among the most heavily funded companies in that group.

Total Pixxel Funding Reaches $195 Million

The latest round takes Pixxel’s cumulative fundraising to approximately $195 million.

Pixxel also intends to add synthetic aperture radar, commonly known as SAR, and ultra-high-resolution optical imaging to its broader technology platform.

These technologies could allow the company to gather different types of Earth observation data instead of relying on one sensing method.

Pixxel expects the first Honeybee satellite to launch in 2027.

Pixxel Expands Beyond Hyperspectral Imaging

The funding signals a broader strategic shift.

Pixxel no longer wants to operate only as a satellite imagery provider.

The company aims to build what it describes as planetary infrastructure connecting satellites, sensors, software and intelligence systems.

Its Aurora platform plays a major role in that strategy.

Aurora combines Earth observation datasets and converts them into information that governments and businesses can use for decision-making.

The company plans to use the fresh funding to further develop Aurora and combine more datasets within the platform.

Six Firefly Satellites Already in Orbit

Pixxel has already deployed six Firefly satellites.

The company says these satellites form the world’s highest-resolution commercial hyperspectral constellation.

The Firefly network gives Pixxel an operational foundation as it prepares to expand into additional sensing technologies.

The satellites can gather detailed spectral information about the Earth’s surface and help users identify changes that traditional visual imagery may miss.

Pixxel has increasingly positioned this capability for commercial, environmental and government applications.

NASA and NRO Contracts Strengthen Pixxel’s Position

Pixxel has also expanded its relationship with major government and space organizations.

The company has secured contracts involving NASA and the US National Reconnaissance Office, or NRO.

In India, Pixxel has won multiple challenges under the Defence Ministry’s iDEX innovation program.

These contracts give the company exposure to both civilian and national-security applications.

Government demand for advanced Earth observation data has grown globally as countries invest in climate monitoring, border intelligence, disaster response, agriculture and strategic surveillance.

Pixxel Plans Sovereign Space Systems for Governments

The company also wants to deepen its work on sovereign Earth observation systems.

These systems allow governments to develop or operate dedicated satellite capabilities for their own civil, defence or intelligence requirements.

Pixxel plans to use part of the Series C funding to expand this business internationally.
