The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall across large parts of the country over the next two to three days, as floods, landslides, and a cloudburst continue to affect several states.
States including Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Odisha, West Bengal, and parts of Northeast India remain on high alert as emergency agencies intensify rescue and relief operations.
Cloudburst Cuts Off Villages in Himachal Pradesh
A cloudburst struck the Dhandhal Nallah area in the Mayar Valley of Lahaul and Spiti district on Saturday night, triggering flash floods that washed away a bridge and a section of road.
As a result, seven villages were reportedly cut off from the rest of the district, with authorities assessing the damage and working to restore connectivity.
Assam Flood Situation Remains Critical
Flood conditions in Assam continue to be severe.
According to the information provided, 68 people have lost their lives due to the floods, while large areas remain submerged.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to review the flood situation. Sonowal is currently visiting the state to assess relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Army Continues Rescue Operations in Gujarat

- Keonjhar
- Mayurbhanj
These districts are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall through July 29.
