MUMBAI, India | September 1, 2026 —
IBPS RRB Recruitment 2026 registration opened Tuesday for thousands of Office Assistant and Officer positions across Regional Rural Banks, giving graduates until September 21 to complete their applications for one of the largest banking recruitment drives of the year.
The Common Recruitment Process for Regional Rural Banks, known as CRP-RRBs XV, covers Group B Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and Group A Officer Scale I, Scale II and Scale III positions.
The currently reported vacancy tables add up to 13,706 indicative openings. The final number can change because vacancies are reported by participating Regional Rural Banks and may be revised during the recruitment cycle.
Candidates can register and pay the applicable application fee from September 1 through September 21, 2026.
IBPS RRB 2026 Vacancy Breakdown
The recruitment drive currently includes the following indicative vacancies:
Office Assistant (Multipurpose): 8,183
Officer Scale I — Assistant Manager: 4,256
Officer Scale II — All Specializations: 1,047
Officer Scale III — Senior Manager: 220
Total Indicative Vacancies: 13,706
Officer Scale II vacancies cover several specialist and managerial categories, including General Banking, Information Technology, Chartered Accountancy, Law, Treasury, Marketing and Agriculture.
Candidates should treat the vacancy figures as indicative because participating banks can revise their requirements.
Applications Close September 21
Online registration began on September 1, 2026.
The last date to register is September 21, 2026, which is also the deadline for online payment of application fees and intimation charges.
Candidates applying for an Officer position should note an important rule.
A person can apply for the Office Assistant position and also for an Officer position. However, within the Officer cadre, a candidate can apply for only one post — Officer Scale I, Scale II or Scale III.
Separate applications and fees are required where a candidate applies for both Office Assistant and an Officer post.
Who Can Apply for Office Assistant?
For the Office Assistant (Multipurpose) position, candidates generally need a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
Proficiency in the prescribed local language of the participating Regional Rural Bank is also important.
Working knowledge of computers is desirable.
Previous banking experience is not required for the Office Assistant position.
Officer Scale I Eligibility
Officer Scale I, commonly referred to as the Assistant Manager level, also requires a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent institution.
Preference may be given to candidates with educational backgrounds relevant to rural banking and development, including agriculture, horticulture, forestry, animal husbandry, veterinary science, agricultural engineering, information technology, management, law, economics and accountancy.
Candidates are also expected to meet the local-language requirements applicable to the Regional Rural Bank concerned.
Previous banking experience is not mandatory for Officer Scale I.
Officer Scale II Requires Experience
Eligibility becomes more specialized at Officer Scale II.
For the General Banking Officer category, candidates generally need a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate marks along with the prescribed professional experience.
A General Banking Officer applicant normally requires at least two years of experience as an officer in a bank or financial institution.
Specialist Officer Scale II roles have separate qualification requirements.
The Information Technology position requires the prescribed degree in a relevant technology discipline along with professional experience.
Chartered Accountant, Law Officer, Treasury Manager, Marketing Officer and Agricultural Officer positions similarly carry qualification and experience conditions specific to each field.
Candidates should match their degree and work experience carefully with the position they select.
Officer Scale III Targets Experienced Bankers
Officer Scale III is the Senior Manager category.
Candidates generally need a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks along with substantial professional banking experience.
The post requires a minimum of five years of experience as an officer in a bank or financial institution.
This makes Scale III fundamentally different from the entry-level Office Assistant and Scale I recruitment tracks.
What Is the Age Limit?
Age is calculated as of September 1, 2026.
The general age limits differ by post:
Office Assistant: 18 to 28 years
Officer Scale I: Above 18 and below 30 years
Officer Scale II: Above 21 and below 32 years
Officer Scale III: Above 21 and below 40 years
Relaxations apply to eligible reserved categories under the recruitment rules.
SC and ST candidates generally receive a five-year relaxation, while eligible OBC candidates receive three years.
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are eligible for a 10-year relaxation, subject to applicable conditions.
Other category-specific relaxations also apply under the notification.
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹850 for candidates in the general fee-paying categories.
For eligible SC, ST and PwBD candidates, the fee is ₹175.
For Office Assistant applications, eligible ex-servicemen categories are also covered by the lower fee structure under the prescribed conditions.
Candidates applying separately for Office Assistant and an Officer position must pay the applicable fee separately for each application.
IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Exam Dates
Officer Scale I candidates will first appear for the preliminary examination.
The preliminary examination is scheduled for:

Candidates who clear the preliminary stage will be eligible for the main examination.
The Office Assistant main examination is scheduled for:
January 30, 2027
There is no interview stage for the Office Assistant recruitment process.

Local Language Can Be Crucial
Regional Rural Banks serve customers across specific states and local regions.
For that reason, knowledge of the prescribed local language can be an important eligibility requirement.
Candidates should not select a bank or state solely on the basis of vacancy numbers.
They should first confirm whether they meet the language requirement for the participating RRB.
The language condition is particularly relevant for customer-facing Office Assistant and Officer Scale I roles.
Documents Candidates Should Prepare
Candidates completing the IBPS RRB Recruitment 2026 application should keep the required digital documents ready before beginning registration.
These generally include:
- Recent passport-style photograph
- Signature
- Thumb impression
- Handwritten declaration
- Live photograph captured during the application process
- Educational information
- Category details where applicable
- Relevant experience details for experienced Officer posts
The uploaded signature should comply with the prescribed format and should not be written entirely in capital letters.
Candidates should ensure that photographs and scanned documents are clear and meet the required file specifications.
How to Apply
Candidates can complete the registration online through the IBPS recruitment system.
They should:
- Open the CRP-RRBs XV recruitment section.
- Choose Office Assistant or the relevant Officer recruitment application.
- Complete new-user registration.
- Enter personal, academic and contact details.
- Select the appropriate post and participating bank preferences.
- Upload the required photograph, signature, thumb impression and declaration.
- Complete the live-photograph requirement.
- Review all entered information carefully.
- Pay the applicable fee online.
- Submit the application before September 21.
- Save the confirmation and registration details.
Candidates should avoid waiting until the final day because payment failures, document-upload problems or heavy traffic can interrupt submission.
13,706 Vacancies Are Indicative, Not a Guaranteed Final Total
Applicants should pay attention to one important detail in the vacancy count.
The 13,706 figure is an indicative total derived from the vacancies currently reported across participating Regional Rural Banks.
At least one participating bank has not reported figures for all categories in the available vacancy tables.
The overall recruitment total can therefore change if additional vacancies are reported or participating banks revise their requirements.
Candidates should base their application decisions on the latest post-wise, bank-wise and category-wise vacancy position available during the application window.
September 21 Is the Key Date
For candidates looking for banking opportunities, IBPS RRB Recruitment 2026 offers a wide range of entry-level, managerial and specialist positions.
Graduates without previous banking experience can compete for Office Assistant and Officer Scale I positions, while experienced professionals can target Scale II and Scale III roles.
With applications already open, candidates have until September 21, 2026 to register and complete fee payment.
The first major examination date arrives on November 21 with the Officer Scale I preliminary examination, followed by Office Assistant preliminaries in December.
For candidates who meet the educational, age and language requirements, the immediate priority is to complete the application accurately before the registration window closes.
