Amarnath Yatra Resumes
The Amarnath Yatra Resumes with renewed momentum after being suspended for six consecutive days due to adverse weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir. On Saturday, the 18th batch of pilgrims departed from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu for the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine via the Baltal route, following clearance from authorities.
The pilgrimage had been temporarily halted after persistent rainfall raised concerns over landslides, flash floods, and the safety of devotees traveling through the Himalayan terrain. Officials resumed the pilgrimage after weather conditions improved and safety assessments were completed.
Pilgrim Safety Remained the Top Priority
Authorities had suspended the pilgrimage to ensure the safety of thousands of devotees amid continuous rainfall in the Kashmir Valley.
Disaster management teams, security personnel, and local administration remained on high alert during the suspension period. After a detailed review of weather and route conditions, officials permitted the pilgrimage to resume under enhanced safety arrangements.
Devotees Welcome the Resumption of the Yatra
The restart of the pilgrimage was met with enthusiasm from devotees who had been waiting in Jammu for nearly a week.
A first-time pilgrim told INVC News that visiting Baba Barfani had always been a cherished dream.
“My only wish is to have the darshan of Baba Barfani. That is why we came despite the rains.”
Another devotee, making his third pilgrimage to the shrine, praised the arrangements for pilgrims.
“This is my third visit. I first came in 2023, and the facilities for pilgrims have improved significantly.”
Pilgrims Express Gratitude as Journey Restarts
A devotee from Uttar Pradesh recalled his previous pilgrimage in 2002 and said the group had been praying for the weather to improve because only a limited number of pilgrimage days remained.
Another pilgrim expressed relief after the suspension was lifted.
“I am very happy that the pilgrimage has resumed. Many people had been stranded here for six to seven days.”
A group of seven devotees from Bhopal said they had arrived on July 19 but had to wait until the weather cleared before beginning their spiritual journey.
“We patiently waited for six days. By Lord Shiva’s blessings, we are finally leaving for the holy cave today.”
Authorities Continue Weather Monitoring
Officials said weather conditions will continue to be monitored closely throughout the pilgrimage.
Pilgrims have been advised to:
- Follow official travel advisories.
- Carry rain gear and warm clothing.
- Cooperate with security and rescue personnel.
- Travel only after receiving official clearance.
- Stay informed about weather updates before proceeding on either the Baltal or Pahalgam routes.
Authorities reiterated that pilgrim safety will remain the highest priority throughout the remainder of the Yatra.
