CASCAIS, PORTUGAL — August 17, 2026
The Cristiano Ronaldo Georgina Rodriguez wedding has finally been revealed, with the first intimate photographs and social-media footage offering a glimpse inside the couple’s private ceremony at their home in Cascais, Portugal.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez married on August 11, the 10th anniversary of the day they first met. Their five children played a central role in the quiet family celebration, which took place away from the large celebrity gathering many fans had anticipated.
The first detailed look at the ceremony was photographed by Juergen Teller and published in an exclusive wedding feature. A related post was also shared through the official Vogue Instagram account.
The wedding revelations arrived alongside a major statement from Ronaldo about his playing career. The 41-year-old Portuguese star said the coming season could potentially be his final year in professional soccer, although he has not formally announced his retirement.
Ronaldo and Georgina Chose Their Home Over a Palace
Rodríguez once imagined celebrating her wedding in a grand castle with an elaborate carriage, an exceptionally long dress and a diamond-covered crown. Her priorities, however, changed after building a family with Ronaldo.
Rather than planning a lavish destination event, the couple decided to exchange vows in the living room of their Cascais home—the same space where the family gathers for everyday meals and spends time together.
Rodríguez said privacy had become especially valuable because luxury homes, cars, islands and other extraordinary experiences were already part of their lives. What remained rare was an intimate occasion shared only with their children.
The couple may organize a larger celebration for relatives and friends in the future. For their legal wedding, however, they wanted a private family moment that would commemorate their relationship’s 10th anniversary.
Their Love Story Began at a Gucci Store
Ronaldo and Rodríguez first crossed paths in August 2016 at a Gucci store on Madrid’s Calle Serrano.
Rodríguez, then 22, was working as a sales assistant and was reportedly covering a colleague’s shift that day. Ronaldo, who was 31 and playing for Real Madrid, entered the store with his son Cristiano Jr.
Their meeting marked the beginning of a relationship that would become one of the most closely followed celebrity partnerships in sports and entertainment.
The symbolic wedding date, August 11, was chosen to mark 10 years since that first encounter. The couple had announced their engagement one year earlier.
Five Children Took Center Stage at the Ceremony
The couple’s five children were central to the celebration. Ronaldo and Rodríguez have repeatedly emphasized that family life remains their priority despite their demanding professional schedules.
The family includes Cristiano Jr., twins Eva and Mateo, and daughters Alana and Bella. Ronaldo and Rodríguez suffered a devastating loss in 2022 when Bella’s twin brother, Ángel, died during childbirth.
Rodríguez said she and Ronaldo want their children to remember that something meaningful happened inside their family home—the place where their parents exchanged wedding vows.
After the civil ceremony, the family traveled to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fátima, where they received a private blessing and attended Mass in the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows. Rodríguez later described the experience as deeply peaceful and emotional.
Details and images from the private celebration were published in Vogue’s direct wedding feature.
What Ronaldo and Georgina Wore
The couple’s wedding attire carried a connection to the place where their relationship began.
Rodríguez wore a white silk skirt suit, matching shirt and satin shoes. Ronaldo selected a custom light-beige cotton suit with a white shirt and coordinated loafers. Their children also wore matching outfits.
The understated clothing reflected the couple’s decision to keep the ceremony personal and relaxed instead of turning it into a formal celebrity spectacle.
Photographer Juergen Teller documented the wedding and the moments surrounding it. The images show the couple exercising on the morning of the ceremony, preparing at home and spending time with their children.
Other portraits feature Rodríguez beside the swimming pool wearing Chopard jewelry, along with glimpses of her extensive footwear collection. However, the family ceremony and their visit to Fátima remain the emotional center of the wedding story.
No Traditional Honeymoon for the Newlyweds
Ronaldo and Rodríguez did not plan a traditional honeymoon after the wedding.
The couple was scheduled to return to Riyadh the following day as Ronaldo prepared for the new Saudi soccer season. The Portuguese forward currently plays for Al-Nassr.
Despite the immediate return to their professional routine, Ronaldo said marriage placed their relationship in a different league. He also described the wedding as a special occasion celebrated in an otherwise ordinary family setting.
Rodríguez later said the day unfolded exactly as she had hoped—privately, emotionally and with their family in the leading role.
Ronaldo Says This Could Be His Final Year in Soccer
The wedding feature also included one of Ronaldo’s clearest indications yet that retirement may be approaching.
“This is probably my last year of football,” Ronaldo said, adding that he wants to leave behind a remarkable legacy.
His statement was not an official retirement announcement. However, it suggested that the 2026-27 season could be the final campaign of his extraordinary 25-year professional career.
Ronaldo said he had already mapped out his future and had numerous interests that could keep him occupied after soccer. He wants to travel more, spend additional time with his family, watch and play padel, and enjoy the life he and Rodríguez have built.
He also acknowledged the sacrifices required throughout his career and the challenge of replacing the structure and competitive intensity that professional soccer has provided for more than two decades.
Ronaldo Moves Closer to 1,000 Career Goals
Ronaldo enters the latest stage of his career with 976 officially recognized senior goals, leaving him 24 short of the historic 1,000-goal milestone.
He has registered those goals across 1,330 appearances for club and country, although statistical totals can vary slightly depending on the competitions and matches recognized by individual data providers.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has represented Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al-Nassr, in addition to his record-breaking international career with Portugal.
Reaching 1,000 goals would add another landmark to his extensive list of achievements. Nevertheless, Ronaldo’s remarks indicate that the legacy he now considers important extends beyond statistics to his family and life after soccer.
