A new threat emerges with the return of Mac Gargan (Scorpion), while familiar Marvel characters including Hulk and Punisher become part of the conflict. However, the film is less interested in assembling a superhero spectacle than in exploring Peter’s journey toward becoming a mature, self-reliant individual.

That emotional foundation gives the story its strongest moments.
