MUMBAI, India | September 22, 2026 — The Monday test has delivered its verdict at the Indian box office, and the picture is becoming increasingly interesting. Hanuman Ansh may be deep into its seventh week, but it is still collecting numbers that several newer films would happily accept. Meanwhile, Mirzapur: The Movie has crossed ₹315 crore worldwide, Resident Evil has emerged as the strongest of the latest releases in India, and VIBE has opened a comfortable lead over Daayra.
The weekend party, however, is over. Monday brought sharp drops across theatres, exposing which films still have genuine audience pull and which ones now need strong weekday support.
Hanuman Ansh refuses to leave the battlefield
The biggest surprise continues to be Hanuman Ansh.
On its 46th day in theatres, the film collected approximately ₹4 crore India net on Monday, taking its total India net collection to ₹275.88 crore. Its worldwide gross has now reached approximately ₹352.30 crore.
What makes these numbers extraordinary is not simply the total—it is the film’s age.
Most movies fight for screens after the second or third weekend. Hanuman Ansh is now in its seventh week and is still capable of producing multi-crore weekdays.
The film had collected around ₹5 crore on Friday, ₹9.75 crore on Saturday and ₹13.75 crore on Sunday before Monday brought the expected post-weekend fall.
That drop looks dramatic on paper, but a ₹4 crore Monday in the seventh week tells a very different story: the film still has fuel left in the tank.
Mirzapur: The Movie crosses ₹315 crore worldwide
If Hanuman Ansh is refusing to slow down, Mirzapur: The Movie has quietly built a massive theatrical total of its own.
The crime drama collected around ₹1.75 crore India net on Monday, September 21, its 18th day in theatres. That pushed its India net total to approximately ₹217.45 crore.
Its India gross stands at around ₹258.89 crore, while overseas earnings have reached approximately ₹56.25 crore. Together, that puts the movie’s worldwide collection at about ₹315.14 crore.
Monday’s collection dropped sharply from Sunday’s ₹5 crore, but Mirzapur has already done most of the heavy lifting.
The bigger question now is how much further it can stretch its theatrical run before new releases begin eating into its remaining screens.
Resident Evil becomes the strongest fresh release
Among the films released on September 18, Resident Evil currently has the strongest India net total.
The Hollywood action-horror film earned approximately ₹1.25 crore India net on Monday, taking its four-day India net collection to around ₹10.75 crore.
Its weekend trajectory was encouraging:
Friday brought ₹2.60 crore, Saturday climbed to ₹3.35 crore, and Sunday improved further to ₹3.55 crore.
Then came the Monday reality check.
The collection fell by nearly 65% to ₹1.25 crore. Still, among the current fresh releases, Resident Evil enters Tuesday with the biggest India net total.
That gives it an important advantage in the battle for screens.
VIBE wins first round against Daayra
The most interesting Bollywood battle right now is between VIBE and Daayra.
Both films arrived in cinemas on September 18, but Kunal Kemmu’s VIBE has established a sizeable early lead.
VIBE collected around ₹90 lakh India net on Monday, taking its four-day domestic net total to approximately ₹8.35 crore. Its worldwide gross has reached roughly ₹11.50 crore.
The film earned ₹1.70 crore on Friday before jumping to ₹2.75 crore on Saturday and ₹3 crore on Sunday.
The Monday fall was steep—but the weekend gave VIBE enough breathing room to remain comfortably ahead of Daayra.
Daayra needs a weekday turnaround
Daayra, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has found the going tougher.
The investigative crime drama earned approximately ₹45 lakh India net on Monday, taking its four-day India net total to around ₹4.95 crore.
Its worldwide gross currently stands at approximately ₹7.68 crore.
Daayra opened with ₹1 crore on Friday, improved to ₹1.75 crore on Saturday and maintained the same figure on Sunday.
But Monday exposed the problem.
A drop to ₹45 lakh means the film now needs strong word of mouth and stable weekday occupancy if it wants to remain competitive when the next wave of releases reaches theatres.
For the moment, VIBE has nearly twice Daayra’s India net collection.
Haiwaan almost disappears from the race
The picture looks far more difficult for Haiwaan.
After beginning its run with a ₹3 crore opening day, the film experienced a severe loss of momentum during its second weekend.
Its India net total stood at approximately ₹9.88 crore, while worldwide gross reached around ₹15.04 crore after the latest reported figures.
The film’s second Friday, Saturday and Sunday collections were reported at only around ₹1 lakh each.
Unless something unusual changes, the theatrical race has clearly moved toward newer titles.
Monday changed the box office equation
Monday has effectively divided the current films into three groups.
At the top, Hanuman Ansh and Mirzapur: The Movie already have huge totals behind them. Their weekday declines matter less because both films have accumulated substantial theatrical business.
In the fresh-release race, Resident Evil currently leads, while VIBE has established itself ahead of Daayra.
And then there is Hanuman Ansh.
A film still generating crores after more than six weeks in theatres remains the strangest—and perhaps most fascinating—story at the Indian box office right now.
What happens today?
Tuesday, September 22, will become crucial for the new releases.
The early-morning Day 5 figures for Resident Evil, VIBE and Daayra, Day 19 for Mirzapur: The Movie, and Day 47 for Hanuman Ansh were not yet meaningfully reported when this article was prepared.
So the real battle begins once Tuesday’s daytime and evening shows start reporting.
If VIBE stabilises after Monday’s fall, it can strengthen its advantage over Daayra. If Resident Evil maintains its current lead, it could remain the strongest September 18 release in India.
But the biggest question remains the same:
How long can Hanuman Ansh keep doing what most films cannot—pull audiences into theatres week after week?
