Awarapan 2 Passes Monday Test as Batwara 1947 Suffers Sharp Drop

Awarapan 2 box office collection reached an estimated ₹91 crore net in India after the Emraan Hashmi-led film added ₹9.25 crore on its first Monday. The romantic action thriller remained comfortably ahead of Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, which collected an estimated ₹2 crore on the same day.

Both Hindi films opened in theaters on August 14 ahead of India’s Independence Day holiday. However, Awarapan 2 established a commanding lead on its opening day and maintained that advantage throughout the extended weekend.

The Monday results have widened the gap between the two major releases. While weekday collections declined for both films, Awarapan 2 continued to attract significantly more moviegoers.

Awarapan 2 Reaches ₹91 Crore in Four Days

Starring Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, Awarapan 2 opened with an estimated ₹22 crore net in India. The film benefited from the Independence Day holiday on Saturday, when its collection increased to ₹33.75 crore.

It earned another ₹26 crore on Sunday before recording ₹9.25 crore on Monday. This took its four-day India net collection to approximately ₹91 crore.

Monday’s collection represented a substantial decline from Sunday, which is normal after a holiday-supported opening weekend. Nevertheless, the film maintained a strong lead over its immediate competition.

Batwara 1947 Collects ₹2 Crore on Monday

Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Batwara 1947 stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol. The Partition-era drama received appreciation for its subject and performances, although its theatrical collection remained below expectations.

The film opened with ₹5.75 crore on Friday. Its earnings rose sharply to ₹13.50 crore on Independence Day but declined to ₹7.25 crore on Sunday.

On its first Monday, Batwara 1947 collected an estimated ₹2 crore, taking its four-day India net total to ₹28.50 crore.

After four days, Awarapan 2 has built a ₹62.50 crore lead over Batwara 1947 at the domestic box office.

Emraan Hashmi’s film earned nearly three times as much as Sunny Deol’s period drama on Monday. Its cumulative total is also more than three times the four-day collection of Batwara 1947.

The films belong to different genres, but their simultaneous release has made the comparison unavoidable. Awarapan 2 appeals to fans of romantic action thrillers and the original 2007 film, while Batwara 1947 targets audiences interested in historical dramas.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Remains Strong in India

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day continued its successful theatrical run despite facing fresh competition.

The superhero film collected an estimated ₹9.50 crore net on its third Sunday. Its earnings fell to ₹2 crore on Monday, the 19th day of its release.

The film’s cumulative India net collection now stands at approximately ₹469.05 crore. It remains one of the strongest Hollywood performers at the Indian box office in 2026.
