POCO M8x 5G has launched in India with a massive 7,900mAh battery, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, a 120Hz display and a 50MP main camera, giving battery-focused smartphone buyers another aggressive option in the competitive mid-range 5G market.
POCO has priced the smartphone from ₹20,999, while an introductory offer can bring the effective starting price down to ₹18,999 for eligible buyers during the opening sale.
The POCO M8x 5G sale in India starts August 27, with the handset scheduled to be available through Flipkart.
Battery endurance is clearly the headline feature. However, POCO is also betting on long software support, a large display, reverse charging and its new Snapdragon platform to make the M8x 5G stand out in a crowded segment.
POCO M8x 5G Price in India
The POCO M8x 5G has been introduced in two RAM and storage configurations.

Massive 7,900mAh Battery Is the Biggest Attraction
The biggest selling point of the POCO M8x 5G is unquestionably its 7,900mAh battery.
That is considerably larger than the batteries found in many mainstream 5G smartphones and could make the handset particularly attractive to users who prioritize endurance over ultra-slim design.
POCO says the phone can deliver up to three days of usage under its testing conditions.
The company also claims up to 35 hours of social media use, around 13 hours of navigation and approximately 13 hours of continuous gaming, although real-world battery life will naturally depend on network conditions, screen brightness, apps and individual usage patterns.
The emphasis on battery life also closely matches current Indian buyer preferences. A recent INVC report found that performance and battery life rank far ahead of AI features for many Indian smartphone buyers.
45W Fast Charging and 22.5W Reverse Charging
A huge battery can become inconvenient if charging takes too long, so POCO has paired the 7,900mAh unit with 45W wired fast charging.
The handset also supports 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing users to use the smartphone almost like a power bank for compatible devices.
That feature could be particularly useful for charging wireless earbuds, another smartphone or other USB-powered accessories while traveling.
For users who spend long periods away from a charger, the combination of high battery capacity and reverse charging could become one of the strongest reasons to consider the device.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Makes Its India Debut
POCO is positioning the M8x 5G as the first smartphone in India powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform.
The 4nm octa-core chipset operates at speeds of up to 2.4GHz and is aimed at delivering efficient everyday performance alongside 5G connectivity.
POCO claims an AnTuTu benchmark score exceeding 650,000 for the device.
As always, benchmark numbers should not be treated as a substitute for real-world performance, but the newer chipset gives POCO an important marketing advantage in the mid-range segment.
The phone uses LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.
On the 6GB RAM model, memory expansion can add virtual RAM for users who want additional headroom for multitasking.
POCO Adds Large Cooling System
POCO has also focused on thermal management.
The M8x 5G includes a multi-layer cooling setup designed to dissipate heat during gaming, extended video streaming and other sustained workloads.
The cooling system includes a large graphite layer along with copper foil and thermal material.
This matters particularly on a device marketed around long battery endurance, because users may be more likely to spend extended periods gaming, streaming or navigating without needing to recharge.
6.9-Inch 120Hz Display
On the front, the POCO M8x 5G features a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 1600 × 720 pixels.
The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, designed to provide smoother scrolling and animations than a conventional 60Hz display.
It also offers a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz.
For protection, POCO has equipped the screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
The phone also includes Wet Touch technology, designed to improve touchscreen usability when fingers or the display surface are slightly wet.
However, shoppers prioritizing display sharpness should note that this remains an HD+ LCD panel rather than an AMOLED or higher-resolution Full HD+ screen.
That could become one of the key trade-offs buyers weigh against the unusually large battery.
50MP Camera Leads the Rear Setup
Photography duties are handled by a 50MP primary rear camera, accompanied by an additional secondary sensor.
POCO also provides 2x in-sensor zoom for closer framing.
For selfies and video calls, the handset carries an 8MP front-facing camera.
The camera specification is relatively straightforward rather than photography-focused, reinforcing the impression that POCO has prioritized battery life, connectivity and day-to-day performance with this model.
Android 16 and HyperOS 3
The POCO M8x 5G runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
More importantly, POCO is making a significant long-term software commitment.
The company says the smartphone will receive four generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of software/security support.
For a phone in this price segment, longer software support could become increasingly important as Indian consumers keep smartphones for longer periods.
IP64 Rating and Gorilla Glass Protection
The phone carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.
That does not make it a fully waterproof smartphone, but it provides additional protection against everyday dust and accidental splashes.
POCO has also used Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front.
The device weighs approximately 232 grams and measures about 8.8mm thick, which is understandable given the exceptionally large battery.

That strategy is becoming visible across the wider Xiaomi ecosystem as well. The Redmi A7 Pro 5G launched in India with a 6,300mAh battery and 120Hz display, reflecting growing competition around battery endurance in affordable smartphones.
The M8x 5G takes that strategy considerably further with its 7,900mAh capacity.

Is POCO M8x 5G Worth Watching?
On specifications alone, the POCO M8x 5G appears targeted at buyers who put battery endurance, a large screen, 5G connectivity and longer software support above premium display technology or an elaborate camera system.
Its 7,900mAh battery is the standout specification, while Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, 45W charging and six years of software support strengthen the overall package.
There are compromises.
The 6.9-inch screen uses HD+ resolution and LCD technology rather than AMOLED, while the base model starts with 4GB RAM.
But an effective introductory price of ₹18,999 puts the phone into one of India’s most fiercely contested smartphone segments.
