The India Meteorological Department said an active monsoon trough, a depression that developed over coastal West Bengal and other atmospheric systems are influencing weather conditions across the country.
The depression was expected to move northwestward across Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation over northwestern Madhya Pradesh and a shear zone extending across central and adjoining peninsular India are supporting intense rainfall activity.

Chhattisgarh is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, with extremely heavy rain at isolated locations, on August 14. Such intense spells can cause flash flooding, waterlogging, reduced visibility and disruptions to road and rail traffic.

Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha may receive isolated very heavy rainfall on August 14 as the weather system moves inland.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also possible across parts of the region. Wind speeds could reach 40–50 kilometers per hour and occasionally gust to around 60 kilometers per hour in some affected areas.
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may experience isolated heavy rain. Bihar could receive scattered rain and thunderstorms, although more organized rainfall activity is forecast later in the period.

Strong surface winds are possible over Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. People should avoid taking shelter beneath trees during thunderstorms.
Rough Sea Warning for Bay of Bengal
Squally winds of 40–50 kilometers per hour, gusting to around 60 kilometers per hour, may prevail over parts of the northwestern Bay of Bengal.
