MUMBAI, India | September 19, 2026 — Actor and producer Richa Chadha is stepping into a new digital space with Musafiri, her first non-fiction series and her debut project for YouTube. The newly released trailer introduces an eight-episode journey through Mumbai, with Chadha exploring the city’s lesser-known people, places, histories and stories.
The series will premiere on Phull Stop, the new YouTube channel launched by Chadha and actor Ali Fazal. The first episode is scheduled to arrive on September 25, followed by a new episode every Friday.
Richa Chadha Takes on Three Roles in Musafiri
Musafiri is not simply a presenting assignment for Chadha.
She has hosted, written and produced the series herself, giving the project a more personal identity than a conventional celebrity travel show. Across eight episodes, she moves through Mumbai while interacting with residents, historians, cultural practitioners and people connected with different parts of the city.
The show’s central idea moves beyond famous tourist attractions. Instead, it looks at stories and spaces that often remain outside Mumbai’s most familiar public image.
That distinction could become Musafiri’s biggest strength.
Rather than asking viewers simply to visit a destination, Chadha appears to be asking them to understand the people and histories that give a city its character.
Motherhood Inspired Richa Chadha to Look at Mumbai Again
The idea for the series emerged after Chadha became a mother.
According to the material released with the trailer, motherhood changed the way she looked at familiar surroundings and encouraged her to question how well she actually knew Mumbai—a city that has played a major role in both her life and career.
That renewed curiosity became the foundation for Musafiri.
Chadha has also connected the project with her longstanding interest in history, art and culture. She studied History Honours at St. Stephen’s College, and the new series allows her to bring that academic curiosity into a more accessible digital format.
Season One Is Completely About Mumbai
The first season of Musafiri is devoted entirely to Mumbai.
Instead of covering multiple destinations in quick succession, the creators have chosen to stay with one city and explore it in depth.
The episodes are expected to uncover overlooked corners, local voices and lesser-known chapters of Mumbai’s history. The makers describe the show’s emotional core around people, places and pyaar, giving the series a mix of travel, culture and personal storytelling.
That approach separates it from conventional travel content built primarily around hotels, food recommendations and sightseeing.
Musafiri appears designed as a city-discovery series in which conversations and history matter as much as the destination itself.
Why YouTube Matters for Richa Chadha
The project also marks an interesting shift in how established film actors are approaching digital audiences.
Instead of taking Musafiri directly to a traditional television network or major streaming platform, Chadha and Fazal are launching it through their own YouTube channel.
That gives the creators direct access to viewers and greater freedom over release schedules, episode formats and the kind of stories they want to pursue.
For Chadha, it also opens another creative identity beyond acting.
She is already functioning as a producer, and Musafiri now places her simultaneously in front of the camera, behind the writing and inside the production process.
Musafiri Expands Pushing Buttons Studios
The series comes from Pushing Buttons Studios, the production banner founded by Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal.
Musafiri follows their earlier production Girls Will Be Girls and marks the banner’s move into non-fiction storytelling.
That expansion is worth watching because the company is no longer limiting itself to traditional scripted films.
YouTube gives the banner another route to experiment with formats that may not need the economics or release structure of theatrical cinema or large streaming platforms.
When Will Musafiri Release?
Viewers will not have to wait long.
Musafiri Episode 1 will premiere on September 25, 2026, on the Phull Stop YouTube channel.
After that, one new episode will arrive every Friday until the eight-episode season is complete.
For Chadha, the series represents more than another screen appearance.
It is her first non-fiction show, first YouTube project and a chance to tell stories about Mumbai through a format she has helped shape from writing to production.
And if Musafiri connects with viewers, Phull Stop could become an important new independent digital platform for Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal beyond mainstream cinema and OTT.
