Samsung Pay Now Adds Bill Reminders and Faster Payments to Galaxy Phones

Samsung Pay Now is bringing bill reminders and a faster payment option to select Galaxy smartphones in India, giving users a new way to keep track of upcoming electricity, water, credit card and other payment deadlines.

The India-focused feature works through Samsung’s Now Brief interface and integrates with Samsung Wallet. When a supported bill approaches its due date, the phone can surface a reminder and provide an option to proceed with payment through the Wallet service.

Samsung’s research and development teams in India developed the feature around the needs of local users, particularly those who manage several recurring bills and risk paying late fees when deadlines are missed.

The feature is currently reported to be available on Samsung’s latest foldable devices running One UI 9, including the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. Samsung has not yet provided a complete rollout schedule for older or additional Galaxy models.

How Samsung Pay Now Works

Pay Now is designed to add bill-management capabilities to Now Brief, Samsung’s personalized information feature.

Now Brief already displays selected daily updates, recommendations and contextual information. With Pay Now, it can also identify approaching payment deadlines and display a reminder card.

Users who have properly configured a supported payment method in Samsung Wallet can open the payment option from that reminder. The transaction may still require normal authentication and confirmation; the reminder does not mean bills will be paid automatically.

This distinction is important for users concerned about unapproved transactions. Pay Now is intended to help initiate a payment, not independently debit an account without the user’s authorization.

The exact payment methods and billers available may depend on Samsung Wallet support, participating financial institutions and the user’s account configuration.

A Made-in-India Feature for Everyday Needs

Samsung developed the new function through its Indian engineering operations, which play an increasingly important role in designing features for both local and international users.

The idea addresses a common problem: consumers may receive bills through different emails, applications and service providers, making it difficult to track every deadline.

By bringing relevant reminders into Now Brief, Samsung aims to reduce the need to check multiple applications or create separate calendar alerts.

The company’s India-focused approach also reflects the importance of digital payments in the country, where consumers frequently use Unified Payments Interface services, cards and mobile wallets for recurring expenses.

However, users should review the information displayed by the reminder—including the biller, amount and due date—before approving any transaction.

Bill Payments Are Not Entirely New to Samsung Wallet

While Pay Now’s integration with Now Brief is new, bill-payment support itself is not a completely new addition to Samsung’s payment platform.

Samsung introduced utility bill payments in India through Samsung Pay in 2017. That service allowed users to pay mobile, landline, electricity, gas, water and direct-to-home television bills through the Bharat Bill Payment System.

The latest feature expands that experience by bringing upcoming bill information and payment prompts into Now Brief. Therefore, its primary innovation is proactive reminder integration rather than the first appearance of utility bill payments on Samsung phones.

Samsung Pay has since been incorporated into the broader Samsung Wallet experience, which combines payment cards, UPI services and other digital credentials on supported devices.

Which Samsung Phones Support Pay Now?

Pay Now has initially appeared on Samsung’s newest foldable smartphones equipped with One UI 9:

  • Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold8
  • Galaxy Z Flip8

Availability may depend on the software version, region, Samsung account and supported Wallet configuration.

Owners of other Galaxy phones should not assume the feature is available merely because their device supports Samsung Wallet or an earlier version of Now Brief. Samsung has not officially detailed a complete compatibility list or confirmed when the function will reach older models.

Users can check for software updates through Settings > Software update and review Samsung Wallet and Now Brief settings after installing the latest available version.

New Galaxy Foldables Draw 271,000 Preorders

The feature arrives as Samsung reports strong early demand for its latest foldable lineup in India.

The company said the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 received more than 271,000 preorders within 72 hours of their July 22 launch.

That figure was not an independently audited sales total; it was a preorder number announced by Samsung.

According to the company, 45% of the preorders came from Tier 2 cities and smaller markets. The result suggests that demand for premium foldable smartphones is expanding beyond India’s largest metropolitan areas.

Samsung said the comparable number of preorders for the previous Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 generation took 15 days to achieve.

Samsung Expands Its India R&D Strategy

JB Park, president and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, has emphasized that India is more than a large sales market for the company.

Samsung works with Indian research centers, educational institutions and startups to develop technology suited to local requirements. Its engineering teams contribute to global Galaxy software while also creating features aimed specifically at Indian consumers.

Pay Now represents that strategy by applying artificial intelligence and Wallet integration to an ordinary financial-management problem.

For users who regularly miss payment deadlines, the feature could provide a useful additional reminder. Its practical value, however, will depend on accurate bill detection, compatibility with service providers and wider availability across Samsung’s Galaxy portfolio.
