Renowned author Ashok K Banker returns with the epic conclusion to his globally acclaimed Ramayana series with Sons of Sita published byWisdom Tree. Banker will be in conversation with well-known actor and activist Vani Tripathi at Aqua, The Park, on 30th October 2012 as a part of the Delhi International Arts Festival. Speaking about the book, the author commented, “It’s no coincidence that an Indian, homegrown publisher—Wisdom Tree—is bringing you the long-awaited conclusion to my Ramayana Series. It takes an Indian mind to truly understand the real meaning of dharma. And an Indian heart to appreciate the epic tragedy that lies at the heart of the oldest and most enduring epic of all. Afterawaiting this day for over six years, it’s with a thrill of pride that I hold Wisdom Tree’s edition of Sons of Sita in my hands. They achieved what even the world’s biggest multinational publishers couldn’t: they brought Sita home, at last, and restored her sons to their rightful heritage. Jai Siyaram!”  Shobit Arya, Founder & Publisher of Wisdom Tree stated, “This exquisite piece of literature by Ashok Banker is as timely as it is timeless. It is somewhere profoundly written in the book that the Agni-parikshawas more Rama’s than Sita’s. Similarly, how the women are treated in a society is more a reflection on the state of men than that of women.” Vani Tripathi said, “Sons of Sita looks at the amazing persona of SITA in a whole new light, not just as the better half of Lord Rama but also as a mother who brought up two young sons all by herself in a world that had judged her on her character. Her true grit and an impassioned story!”

  1. Sons of Sita is certainly a good read for all who shares interest with me in the Indian mythology. Mahabharta and Ramayana are mostly quite imbibed in the minds of most Indians but the writer here has tried to reach out to the wider audience with his simple writing style and glorifying the two brothers Luv and Kush -the sons of Sita. It is much entertaining to read this retelling of luv and Kush story in English than the sanskrit or hindi version of the story.
