Mirzapur : The government has changed the rules to meet the wheat procurement target. Traders and flour mill operators will not be able to store wheat at the purchasing centers until it is procured. ‎The license will be canceled if the rules are not followed. In the Rabi marketing year 2023-24, wheat procurement was only 12 percent against the target.

This year the government is working towards achieving the target. In such a situation, changes have been made in the rules to make maximum purchases. Let us tell you that due to lack of rain this time also the wheat production has been affected. The support price of wheat has been fixed at Rs 2275 by the government. The rules have been changed to ensure 100% wheat procurement. Traders will not be able to purchase from this. At the same time, flour mill operators will also not be able to store wheat more than the fixed target. Recently, instructions have also been issued regarding this.

The official said that flour mill owners will also purchase wheat only for processing purposes. In case the flour mill owner unloads wheat at the warehouse, the license will be suspended. The trader will not be allowed to buy and sell until the purchase is completed. In Mirzapur district, a target of purchasing 72 thousand tonnes of wheat was set at 83 purchasing centers in the marketing year 2023-24. The government and administration are working to achieve the target in 2024-25.
