In a bid to exhort the upwardly mobile section of the society to come ahead and participate in the electoral process, Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, Umesh Sinha, on Friday, April 25, 2014, launched a voters’ sensitization drive here at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport.

As part of the sensitization drive, the Chief Electoral Officer introduced air travelers to VQ on Wheels- the much popular offline quiz where one gets to gauge one’s Voter Quotient or VQ. Several passengers waiting for their respective flights got themselves engaged with the VQ on Wheels kiosk. The winners also got VQ souvenirs.

The CEO then distributed luggage tags, with voters’ sensitization messages, to passengers. Finally, he made people take a pledge to vote on 30th April, when Lucknow, among other cities, goes to poll.

The best part of the event was the CEO putting badges on the uniform of the security personnel on duty, who were extremely enthused to wear the badge.

Commenting on the entire chain of events, Umesh Sinha, Chief Electoral Officer, Uttar Pradesh said, “The idea is to make the elections more participative and encourage people to come out and vote. Each vote matters.”

VQ on wheels received a very positive feedback and hundreds of people, including airport officials and air hostesses, tested their respective VQs. Director, Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, SC Hota was extremely happy with the initiative of the Election Commission and said, “It is a very nice idea and people would definitely feel encouraged to go out and vote.”
