New Delhi : The scenic beauty of Kashmir is set to be enjoyed like never before, thanks to the upcoming Vistadome train service. Inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, this high-tech, glass-ceiling AC train offers an unparalleled rail experience, rivalling even Switzerland’s scenic trains. Set to launch at Srinagar Railway Station, the Vistadome promises a journey worth a lifetime.

The Route: From Budgam to Banihal

The Vistadome will run between Budgam and Banihal, covering key stations like Srinagar, Awantipora, Anantnag, and Qazigund. The 135 km journey will showcase the ethereal beauty of snow-covered Kashmir, offering passengers a chance to revel in nature’s splendor.

Unique Features: A Window to the Heavens

Designed by Indian Railways, the train’s standout feature is its 40-seat Vistadome coach with a glass ceiling and completely transparent windows. It offers a 360-degree panoramic view, allowing passengers to soak in the spectacular landscapes. The train comes with double-wide reclining seats that can rotate a full 360 degrees, making the journey as comfortable as it is scenic.

Enhanced Comfort: An All-Season Marvel

The train has been equipped with LED lighting to add to its aesthetic appeal. Designed to offer comfort across seasons, the Vistadome remains cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Operational Details: Ready for Launch

According to the Kashmir Observer, the train will operate six days a week. While the fare has not been finalized, all preparations for the train’s operation have been completed. The test run from Budgam to Baramulla last month was successful, making passengers eager for the official launch.
