Virbhadra Singh inaugurates college building in Chamba

Virbhadra SinghINVC NEWS Shimla, Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh today inaugurated Post Graduate Degree College building at Sultanpur in Chamba town which has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 1157.70 lakhs. He laid the foundation stone of GNM School building in the outskirts of the Chamba town which would be constructed at a cost of Rs.678.86 lakhs by BSNL in a time period of 18 months. Chief Minister also inspected the proposed site for setting up Medical College in Chamba and gave his approval for the site which was appropriate and as per the defined norms of the Medical Council of India. He said that the sheep breeding farm situated at this site would be shifted to some other appropriate place in the district itself. Shri Virbhadra Singh announced to open Health Sub Centre at Kuraina in Gram Panchayat Palyeur, Ayurvedic Dispensary at village Chamdoli in Panjoh panchayat and veterinary dispensary at Kakdolu in panchayat Uteep. He announced to upgrade Government High Schools Baat and Durathi to Government Senior Secondary Schools, Government Middle Schools, Ladda, Lahangagla, Ragn, Brotha and Aura to Government High Schools besides upgrading Government Primary Schools Badotha, Kakila, Tikkari and Nandlera to Government Middle Schools. He also announced new primary Schools for Dalai, Kakeda, Thanoti and Ganjji. Later, addressing a public meeting at Chamba, the Chief Minister said that Chamba was an ancient heritage town having rich culture and traditions and today the entire district had witnessed speedy development in major sectors like roads, educational and health institutions, drinking water schemes etc. Shri Virbhadra Singh said that he had laid foundation stone of PG College at Chamba in August, 2007 and budgetary provision of Rs. five crore was also made but the previous BJP Government failed to construct the college building and diverted the funds outside the district. He said that it was one of the college which had best infrastructure in the State. Chief Minister said that three medical colleges were approved for the State by UPA Government out of which one would come up at Chamba which would go a long way in meeting the health requirements of the people of the district nearer to their homes. He said that first medical college was set up in Shimla with the consistent efforts of first Chief Minister of the State Dr. Y.S. Parmar and second medical college came up in Kangra district during his tenure as Chief Minister which today had emerged as one of the pioneering medical institute in the region. Reiterating his Government’s resolve to provide best educational and health facilities to the people of the State, he said that health and educational institutes were being opened as per the requirement and demand of the people and emphasis had been laid to open these institutes in rural and far flung areas. He said that in future the new primary schools would be opened at those places where the strength of the students would be around 25, however, relaxation could be given in certain cases keeping in view the hard topographical conditions of particular areas. The Chief Minister said that some vested interests were raising the issue of illegal felling in the State as they had nothing else to say against the Government which was taking the State to new heights of development and prosperity. He said that complete ban had been imposed on felling and Government had already clarified that if any  such case was brought to the notice, strict action would be initiated against the defaulters. He also lambasted an organization affiliated with BJP for making un-necessary hue and cry over the issues of ‘Love Jihad’, conversion of religion and illegal intrusion of Bangladeshi labourers into the State adding that there was no such case reported and if the organization had any fact or proof they should bring it to the notice of the government so that inquiry could be conducted. Speaking on the occasion, Forest Minister Shri Thakur Singh Bharmouri said that State Government had taken various historic decisions for the development of Chamba district. It was UPA Government which approved the tunnel projects and medical college for Chamba was a big achievement. He thanked the Chief Minister for his benevolence for the speedy development of the district adding that colleges at Chamba, Bharmour, Pangi, Tissa and Chowari were opened due to his efforts. MLA Smt. Asha Kumari also thanked the Chief Minister for ensuring alround development of the district and approving various developmental projects for the district. She also thanked for bringing effective policy for SMC and PTA teachers and opening SDM office at Salooni. She raised the demand for construction of playground in the PG College premises. Chairman, HP Pollution Control Board Shri Kuldeep Singh Pathania, District Congress President Shri Surender Bhardwaj, Secretary, HPCC Shri Pawan Nayyar and  Chairman, APMC Chamba Shri Neeraj Nayyar also spoke on the occasion. Later, Chief Minister launched the facebook page of district administration which would facilitate the people to communicate with the administration on various policies, programmes besides giving their suggestions on various aspects. Chairman, Zila Parishad, Shri Amit Bharmouri, Ex President, Municipal Council Chamba Shri S.P. Dhal and other prominent persons were also present on the occasion.
