New Delhi : Vaishakh month is the second month of the Hindu calendar. According to the Panchang, it is named Vaishakh due to the presence of Vishakha Nakshatra on the full moon date of this month. This month is also known as Madhav. In the month of Vaishakh, Madhusudan form of Lord Vishnu is worshipped. Sri Hari had killed a demon named Madhu, because of that he is also named Madhusudan. The month of Vaishakh is considered very virtuous and fruitful. In this month, there are some rules related to bathing, charity and worship, which are necessary to follow. Let us know when is the month of Vaishakh starting this year? When will the month of Vaishakh end? What are the rules of Vaishakh month?

According to the Hindu calendar, Pratipada Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Vaishakh month starts from 05.18 am on Wednesday, 24th April and this Tithi continues till midnight on that day. Pratipada date of Vaishakh Krishna Paksha is on 24th April, hence Vaishakh month is also starting from that day.

Vaishakh month ends on the full moon date of Shukla Paksha. This year Vaishakh Purnima is on 23 May. For this reason, the month of Vaishakh will end on 23 May.

This year the month of Vaishakh will start in Siddhi Yoga and Swati Nakshatra. Siddhi Yoga is from early morning on 24th April till 05:06 am on 25th April. Whereas Swati Nakshatra is from the morning of 24th April till late night of 12:41 am. Both of these are considered auspicious.

According to Skanda Purana, Vaishakh month is considered the best of all months. There is no other month like it. This month is called Punyaarjan month. It is said that in the month of Vaishakh, all the gods and goddesses reside in water. Lord Vishnu had asked all the gods and goddesses to do this.

1. According to religious beliefs, donating water in the month of Vaishakh is considered the biggest donation. It is said that whoever donates water in the month of Vaishakh, gets the same reward as the virtue of performing many pilgrimages. The importance of donating water has been explained in Skanda Purana.

2. The person who gives water to the passers-by in the month of Vaishakh, sets up stalls for them, arranges food for animals and birds, brings happiness and prosperity in his life.

3. By worshiping Lord Vishnu in the month of Vaishakh, all the troubles of a person go away and his wishes are fulfilled. Must use basil leaves in Vishnu puja. In this month, take bath before sunrise, then do Vishnu puja, charity, chanting and penance, this will bring happiness and prosperity.

4. One should sleep on the ground in the month of Vaishakh. Avoid fried, roasted and spicy food. Eat one meal a day. Do not apply new oil on the body. By doing this work the body will remain healthy. Diseases and defects will remain away.
