NDMC launches World Class Public Bike Sharing System
200 additional Smart Bikes to be added in the fleet by end of this month

New Delhi has been geared up to change the lifestyle of Delhiites by adopting cycling to bridge the gap of last-mile-connectivity and reduce the pollution with their fitness improvement”. This has been remarked by Chairman, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Shri Naresh Kumar while speaking to the media persons after launching the World Class Bike Sharing System (PBS) here today.
The Chairman informed that as many as 300 Smart Bikes already been put under public use on 50 stations, spread over entire New Delhi area and 200 additional Smart Bikes are to be added in the fleet by the end of December this year.
He said that the use of cycling is popularizing day by day among the masses, which are the good symptoms to change the lifestyle and reduced the pollution with fitness of the commuters.
People who wish to complete their last mile connectivity by cycle they might avail this facility by registering on NDMC Mobile App “NDMC-311”. After registration cyclists used at touch pad on back of the cycle to unlock the cycle through OTP. This app based system record the time when the bike unlocked and charged the user fee accordingly, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice President and Treasurer of World Cycling Alliance, Shri D.V. Manohar said that Smart Bike is of German origin with state-of-art features, excellent App and user friendly tariff. Smart Bike has its Assembly Plant in Hyderabad and planning to set up another in Delhi. It is gratifying to note the excellent response to Smart Bike in New Delhi since its soft launch last month with thousands of Delhiites taking memberships and using Smart Bike and added that NDMC is doing remarkable work in this area under the many Smart City initiatives to make happy people of New Delhi area.
Shri Dharmin Dontamsetti, the Co-founder and Managing Director, SmartBike Mobility Pvt. Ltd. he is a startup entrepreneur, talking on the portability of usage, he says, by integrating the Metro Smart card and by feeding real time system data into the local transit app, we offer seamless connectivity between both modes of transport.
The charges Bike Sharing facility will be available at free of cost for the first half-an-hour ride for members only and for non-members Rs.10/- will be chargeable for 30 minutes riding. The subscription for the Bike Sharing will also be available for one week pass at Rs. 199/-, Monthly pass Rs.399/-, six month pass Rs.1199/- and maximum one year pass at Rs. 1,999/-. The facility of Bike Sharing in New Delhi area will be available between 6.00 a.m. to 10.00 at night.
