Washington – :  A State Department spokesperson said ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to the US that the US works closely with India on the most important priorities. Addressing the press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesman Matthew Miller said that our partnership with India is important.

We work closely with India on our most important priorities. Miller said he expected US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti to play an important role in deepening ties between the two countries and working on matters of common concern. To questions about Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming visit, Miller said without giving further details that the war in Ukraine would certainly be one of the topics that would be discussed.

Spokesperson Miller said this has also been one of the topics of discussion in previous meetings with Prime Minister Modi. The United States clearly views visa delays as a concern and the consular team is working to process visa applications in India as expeditiously as possible. He said that this is the top priority of our government and I know it is also the top priority for our embassy in the country.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on an official visit to the US. During this, he will also attend the state dinner hosted by US President Joseph Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on June 22, 2023.
