It is believed that on this day, the ancestors descend from heaven to earth, bestowing their blessings upon their family members. By observing the rituals associated with Darsha Amavasya, one can seek the removal of Pitra Dosh, a negative influence caused by ancestral karma.

To seek the blessings of the ancestors and alleviate Pitra Dosh, it is recommended to take a bath early in the morning and offer prayers.
