  2. Consume pure and sattvic food: During Malmas, it is recommended to eat pure and wholesome food. This involves avoiding foods that are considered impure or tamasic. The timing of meals is also believed to have health benefits if consistent.
  3. Preferred food items: In Malmas, it is advisable to consume foods such as sesame, gram, groundnut, rice, peas, cucumber, mango, peepal, cumin, betel nut, rock salt, jackfruit, wheat, white paddy, moong (green gram), ghee, coriander, and chili.
  4. Fasting: Observing fasts on the significant dates of Malmas is considered beneficial. Fasting is a way to purify the body, mind, and spirit and enhance one’s spiritual practice.
  5. Avoid specific food items: During Malmas, it is advised to refrain from consuming garlic, onion, meat, alcohol, eggs, intoxicants, fish, stale food, honey, rice starch, moong dal, masoor dal, urad dal, green vegetables, sesame oil, and mustard cabbage. Consuming these items is believed to have negative effects on health and spirituality.
