Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has raised questions on the committee formed to implement a common law i.e. Common Civil Code in Gujarat. In Gujarat’s Bhavnagar, Kejriwal said that if the party wants to do this, it should be implemented across the country.

Addressing the press conference, Arvind Kejriwal said that the intention of the BJP is not right. If it wants to implement it, it should be implemented across the country. Kejriwal said that the Uniform Civil Code should be such that everyone agrees.

The Chief Minister of Delhi said that ever since the Aam Aadmi Party started working in Gujarat, the old politics is coming to an end. Kejriwal asked whether the BJP-led central government was waiting for the Lok Sabha elections to take this step. Addressing a press conference in Bhavnagar on the third day of his Gujarat tour, he said that the BJP is trying to implement its election agenda.

It is noteworthy that the Gujarat government has decided to constitute a committee to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). The proposal for constitution of the committee was approved during the state cabinet meeting held on Saturday. This is believed to be the last meeting of the Bhupendra Patel-led cabinet as the schedule for the state elections is expected to be announced next week. PLC/GT
