Today the poor will get their flat under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand over their homes to 575 people of Delhi. The keys of the flats constructed under Delhi Development Authority’s In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Scheme at Kalkaji in South Delhi will be given to their allottees.

A program will be organized on Wednesday at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. In this, PM Modi will give the keys of their residence and necessary documents to the eligible shortlisted 575 people in the first phase of In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Scheme in Kalkaji. 3074 houses have been built by DDA under In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Scheme in Kalkaji.

After completing all the allotment formalities, the DDA has decided to give the ownership rights of their flats to 575 of these people. Earlier, the DDA had conducted a preliminary survey for the purpose of allotting flats to all these people and checked their required documents.

Besides bringing housing schemes for different income groups, DDA is now also focusing on building EWS flats under in situ development. In this direction, about 5200 flats have been completed, while 2300 flats will be completed by the end of this year. Apart from this, the construction work of more than 25 thousand flats is also likely to start this year.

The DDA has taken up three such projects in Kalkaji Extension, Jailorwala Bagh and Kathputli Colony. Under Kalkaji Extension Project, in-situ rehabilitation of three slum clusters namely landless camp, Navjeevan camp and Jawahar camp located at Kalkaji is being done in a phased manner. 3024 EWS flats have been constructed at the vacant commercial center site near the first. The slum site in the landless camp will be vacated by rehabilitating the eligible families of the landless camp in the newly constructed EWS flats. In the second phase after the landless camp site, this vacant site will be used for rehabilitation of Navjeevan Camp and Jawahar Camp.

The first phase of the project has been completed and 3024 flats are ready. These flats have been constructed for about Rs 345 crore. It has all the civic amenities. Vitrified floor tiles, ceramic tiles, Udaipur green marble counters have been installed in the flats.

Public facilities like community park, electric sub-station, sewage treatment plant, dual water pipeline, clean water supply have also been provided in these flats. The allotment of flats will provide a sense of ownership as well as security to the people. PLC/GT
