The Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said that the Steering Committees would be constituted at district level to ensure the complete ban on the sale of tobacco and smoking the periphery of medical and educational institutions in the State.
The Minister disclosed this while releasing the Fact Sheet of the Global Adult Tobacco Survey -2 (GATS-2) here today.
He said that the tobacco free villages will be honoured by the State Government. A special campaign will be launched in the State to encourage and sensitize the people about the ill effects of tobacco and its products. He also urged to actively involve the religious institutions, NGOs and social organizations in this campaign.
Principal Secretary, Health Department, Mr Raja Sekhar Vundru, Secretary Health Department and Mission Director, National Health Mission, Ms Amneet P.Kumar were also present on this occasion.
