The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Delhi has today sentenced Shri Vijay Kumar Verma, then Junior Engineer of Municipal Corporation of Delhi(MCD), Lajpat Nagar Zone, Delhi to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.One lakh for possession of disproportionate assets. The Court also ordered for confiscation of assets of the accused to the tune of Rs.25 lakh which was the amount of disproportion as held by the Court.
A case was registered against Shri Vijay Kumar Verma on 22.11.1999 on the allegations that the accused while working as a public servant during 01.01.1986 to 22.11.1999 had amassed assets to the tune of Rs.25, 06, 010/- (approx) which were disproportionate to his known income of Rs.14,92,966/-(approx).
After investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet. On conclusion of trial, the Designated Court found the accused guilty and convicted him on 14.10.2015. The disproportionate assets of 168% were made out against accused.
