Three Years Rigorous Imprisonment To Then Police Sub Inspector Of Silvassa In A Bribery Case

The Special Judge for CBI cases, Silvassa has convicted Smt. Jyoti Patel, then Sub Inspector of Police Outpost Pipariya, Silvassa(Dadra & Nagar Haveli) and sentenced her to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment with total fine of Rs.12000/- in a bribery case. The other accused private person Shri S. Thirumalai Kumaran was also convicted and sentenced to undergo one year rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs.2000/-    CBI had registered a case against Smt. Jyoti Patel and Shri S. Thirumalai Kumaran U/s.120-B of IPC r/w. Section 7 of PC Act, 1988 and 13(2) r/w. 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 on the allegation that the accused entered into criminal conspiracy with private person and demanded a bribe of Rs.2000/- from the complainant for not arresting & clearing him from a case registered  against the complainant in the Police Station Silvassa.   CBI filed a chargesheet on 15.12.2010 in the Court of Special Judge for CBI cases, Silvassa against Smt.Jyoti Patel and Shri S. Thirumalai Kumaran.   The Trial Court found both the accused guilty and convicted them.
