Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray claimed that the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) had done an “absolutely good job” with the Center as compared to the current government. Addressing a press conference, Aaditya Thackeray criticized Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and said that Maharashtra is going backwards because of his “betrayal” and “demonic ambition”. He hit out at the Eknath Shinde-led government over the Tata-Airbus project going to Gujarat.

The former Maharashtra minister said, “When we talk about the double engine government during the time of the MVA government, our double engine with the Center worked perfectly well.”

The BJP uses the term “double engine government” for the government of the party or its ally at the Center and in the state. Aaditya Thackeray said, “An engine has failed since this unconstitutional government came to power and whatever investment was to come to Maharashtra is going to other states.”

He further said that Subhash Desai served as the Industries Minister of the state from 2014-2022. He invested Rs 6.6 lakh crore during his tenure. “When we went to Davos, I, Desai and Nitin Raut brought in an investment of Rs 80,000 crore,” Thackeray said.

Thackeray questioned, “The important aspect is that it was the same central government. So if the MVA government and the Center can work and bring investment to Maharashtra, why did their engine fail?”
A consortium of European aviation firm Airbus and the Tata Group has selected Vadodara in Gujarat for a Rs 22,000-crore project to build military aircraft. After this the opposition is fiercely attacking the state government. PLC/GT
