This coal mine will not only beneficial for Jharkhand state but for the whole country especially energy sector : Piyush Goyal

The Minister of State ( I/C) for Power, Coal & New & Renewable energy , Shri Piyush Goyal here today dedicated to the nation through video conference Amrapali opencast coal mine of Central Coalfields Limited( CCL) located in Chatra district of Jharkhand. The ceremony was attended by Shri Sudarshan Bhagat , Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment , who belongs to Jharkhand , Members of Parliament from the State , Coal secretary , CMD of CCL, Shri Gopal Singh and senior officers of the Ministry of coal and CCL . At the coal mine site, the function was attended by several hundred of villagers from surrounding the villages and officers & employees of the CCL. While congratulating the villagers and officers and employees of the CCL , Shri Piyush Goyal directed the CMD, CCL to install under Corporate Social Responsibility the R.O Water treatment plants in all surrounding villages near the coal mine so that villagers gets clean drinking water . He also announced that CCL will establish hospital and medical college , if the state government provides to the CCL 100 acres of land for this purpose. With a view to upgrade the technical skills of the youth of the area , Shri Goyal directed CMD, CCL to explore opening of an ITI . Shri Goyal requested all Members of Parliament from Jharkhand , who were present of the occasion to help the CCL to getting necessary clearances from the state government/ district authorities in the matter relating to early completion of Tori-Shivpur-Kathotia railway line and land authentication of villagers. While stating that power generation is dependent upon the coal production , the Minister sought the support of the people of all mining areas to enable the government’s commitment of providing 24x7 power to all. He assured the people to provide all education, health facilities, full compensation and proper relief and rehabilitation. On the occasion , Shri Goyal also interacted with the students adopted by the CCL in the coal mine area through video conferencing and answered their queries relating to pollution control measures, alternative sources of energy and safety standards in the mines. Shri Goyal stated that he has asked the Coal India Ltd to expeditiously work out plan for safety of Zero tolerance of accidents in all the mines. In his brief address , Shri Sudarshan Bhagat said that today is historic day and moment of pride for all of us and hoped that the opening of this coal mine will not only beneficial for Jharkhand state but for the whole country especially energy sector . Speaking on the occasion, Shri S.K Srivastava , Coal Secretary congratulated the officers and employees of the CCL for the opening of this mine despite several difficulties . He said “ we in the Ministry of coal, Coal India Ltd and its subsidiaries companies are committed to maximize coal production and coal availability for the economy especially the power sector.” He further added we will take all measures to increase production and productivity of coal. In his welcome address , the CMD, CCL Shri Gopal Singh briefly explained the salient features of the coal mine and informed that present capacity of the mine is 12 MTY but can be expanded to 30 MTY. He stated that along with three other mines adjoining this mine can produce coal up to 100 MTY, which can generate 20,000 MW of power. On behalf of the villagers, Shri Singh placed before the Shri Piyush Goyal their request for expediting land authentication by the district administration to enable the CCL to pay the land compensation amount to the villagers.
