The week long celebrations concluded with the spark of fire work

 The concluding evening of a week long New Year Extravaganza musical evening was inaugurated by H.E Gen (Retd.) SF Rodrigues, Governor of Punjab & Administrator UT Chandigarh in presence of Home Secretary UT Sh.Ram Niwas , Sh. Roshan Sunkaria, Commissioner Municipal Corporation and other senior officers of the Administration. The festivity commenced on Christmas, put forth the best of colorful and entertaining singing and musical evenings through out the week made the Plaza Sector 17 the most happening place.

After the Lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest and welcome speech by the Home Secretary , the musical evening commenced.While addressing the crowd, The Home Secretary Chandigarh Administration stated that the Chandigarh Administration will incorporate more events in the annual events calendar to promote tourism as well as to attract both foreign and domestic tourists to visit the city beautiful and share the joy of celebrations. He further appreciated the efforts put in by the supporting agencies like Municipal Corporation, CITCO, Business Promotion Council ITFT and Touch Events group to make the New year Extravaganza a big success.

The evening kicked off by a renowned Punjabi singer Sabarkoti with his latest hit number from the album Khwaish. Thousands of speculators danced to the tune on his numbers clapping and dancing.  The breathtaking Punjabi musical nite by Sabarkoti followed by a grand finale of “Dancing Sensation of Chandigarh” and “Voice of Chandigarh”. The Grand finale begun with a thrilling song Dam-a-Dum mast kalader by Uma patial special song by. Whereas the couple dance performance by Shilpa and Aman astonished the audience .

Around 12 semi finalists of Voice of Chandigarh and four participants of Couple/ partner dance competition entertained the crowd with the best of their talents. The performances by the contestant of Voice of Chandigarh gave applauding performance to the audience. The sector 17 plaza was thronged with so many people. Till late evening the crowd enjoyed the live performance by Sabarkoti .

The judges on the panel for Dancing sensation of Chandigarh were Dolly Guleria, Usha Sharma, Director Haryana Kala Parishad and Leela Saini ,Programme officer Haryana Kala Parishad and for adjudging the Voice of Chandigarh,  H.M, Singh ,Music Director, Varinder Bachchan, Music Director and Brajesh Mishra ,Music Director and Actor were opn the panel of Judges. The winner of dancing partner has been felicitated with a free air tickets to visit Dubai and the first runner has been awarded with prize worth Rs 10,000 sponsored by Grand Travels The winners of “Voice of Chandigarh” both male and female category has been awrded rs 10,000 each and runners up Rs 5000 each sponsored by Business Promotion Counsel, Sector-17.

 The main appealing section of the evening was a performance by Sabar Koti, born in a small village of Punjab, Kot Krar Khan in the Kapurthala district. He was initiated to the Patiala Gharana ‘house’ of classical music from his childhood by his father and guru Sri Amar Nath, has been performing on stage since a nine-year-old. He staged various songs from his hit list like “Farmaish”, Saun Da Mahina, etc. the week long celebrations concluded with the spark of fire work thrilled the people with its colorful spark and sounds, bade goodbye to 2009.
