Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki said that National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the powerful platform for imbibing the spirit of nationalism at an early age among youngster.
The Governor was addressing the NCC Cadets in a programme organised to honour the cadets, here today.
While congratulating the NCC cadets on securing first place in Republic Day Parade, Prof Solanki said that NCC cadets of Haryana have brought laurels to the state by securing first place, fourth time in a row, in Republic Day Parade, this year which was attended by leaders of ten countries. NCC song “Hum Sab Bharatiya Hain…” awakens the spirit of nationalism, where Himalayas are described as Head of India, he added.
On the occasion, the Governor announced to give additional cash award of Rs 11,000 to each cadet who participated in the parade. In total, each cadet would get cash award of Rs 22,000. There are 15 lakh NCC cadets from all over the country, out of which, 34,000 are from Haryana, said the Governor.
The Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma said that the State government is planning to make NCC mandatory for every student in all colleges in Haryana. Remembering Martyr Capt Kapil Kundu and Martyr Lance Naik Satish Kumar, he said that we are proud of brave sons of India.
National Cadet Corps, Additional Director General, Maj. Gen. R S Mann congratulated the young cadets on their achievement.
Those present included Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Mrs Jyoti Arora, Deputy Director, Cadet Corps, Mr Arun Joshi and other officers.
