After a span of 2 years ace short filmmaker, Keshav Raina is back to don directors hat. During a recent media gathering he revealed why he took such a long break from direction? He said, “The short film market has ever since been a very fragile land to stand upon and for the past few years there has been a craze for web series, whose market is very volatile and fertile. While making a film you work with many people, especially producers, most of them don’t have a basic market knowledge and they tend to interfere in every aspect of filmmaking which in turn ruins the original taste of the film. After this web series craze hit Indian market there was a need to educate and prepare myself for the changes in the market and what people need now. Meanwhile I was associated with a literary show on Ghalib.”

During the long conversation he stressed upon some problems he faces while pitching for a social short film. He highlighted the double standards of people while making films. “While pitching for a film people always ask for a story to attract younger audience like romance, college life and some intimate scenes. These demands also tend to come up at the time of shoot mostly by the producer when you have absolutely no choice left except to go for a middle way. Sometimes even actors create a fuss while shooting likewise on my last shoot an actor refused to fall down after getting beaten up, but after some persuasion it was shot.”

After this 2 year break Keshav is ready to shoot his new short film which is based on saving & educating girl child and also equal opportunities and education for autist kids. On his latest project he said, “I have been working on this project for more than 1 year now and discussed it with many but, people generally tend to appreciate these kind of projects but don’t support us. Through this film we would be highlighting many issues likewise female infanticide, save girl child, educate girls, stop some ill acts of society like black magic & sacrifice, education for autists and equal opportunities for autists. I consider autistic children very special, some of the top scientists of the world were autists. They are actually a very special gift of God to us and we should nurture it properly. Although, I am not quite hopeful to get some support from anyone for this project, but, still I would approach Delhi and UP state governments and hope to at least get a moral support from them.”

This short film is expected to be completed in the month of September 2018.
