The Department of Economic and Statistical Analysis has implemented a new scheme known as “Institutes for Research and Development” during the current financial year to stimulate research on issues of economic and social development. While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Department said that the scheme would also focus on need based assessment having direct bearing on plan formulation or implementation of policies, plans and schemes of the Government in the process of development planning. He said that under this scheme, grants-in-aid will be provided to research institutions, organizations for carrying out evaluation, research studies of public policy or plan schemes of different sectors specially social sector and engaging them for professional services support for the work of expert groups or any other specialized work. He said that the grants-in-aid to be given to the selected institutions for undertaking pre-decided research studies would be used by them to create Corpus or Endowment Fund. He said that therefore, the Department has invited “Expression of Interest” from interested organizations to work with Government of Haryana for carrying out evaluation, research studies under different areas or sectors as per the need of the Government under the above mentioned scheme.
