The priority of State Government was to strengthen the economy of the farmers : Dhumal

INVC,, Shimal,, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister said that the priority of State Government was to strengthen the economy of the farmers so that new mile stones could be achieved in strengthening the rural economy. He was speaking on the inaugural function of BJP Kisan Morcha at Hamirpur today. Prof, Dhumal said that during the last three years schemes worth Rs. 1095 crore were implemented which also included Rs.353 crore Pt. Deen Dayal Kisan-Bagwan Samridhi Yojna, Rs. 300 crore Doodh Ganga Yojna and Rs. 442 crore sanctioned by JICA, Japan to promote organic farming to bring diversification in agriculture. He said that 16,500 poly houses were being set up in the State, for which 90 % subsidy was provided to BPL families to construct bamboo poly-houses and 80 % to general public. Chief Minister said that loan upto Rs. 15 lakh was being provided on lower rate of interest under Doodh Ganga Yojna. He urged the farmers to rear improved breed cattle so that their economy could be strengthened by selling the milk products under the scheme. He said that State Government was encouraging and motivating the farmers of the State to set up vermi-compost units and get done the soil testing to bring diversification in cropping pattern. He said that during the last three years 3.62 lakh farmers were provided soil health cards which enabled them to distinguish as to which crop suits their land and 21,000 farmers had been registered so far. He said that to provide relief to the farmers, stamp duty upto the loan of Rs. 10 lakh had been waved off on mortgage deed. Prof. Dhumal said that State Government had launched Bhed Palak Samridhi Yojna for the sheep rearers of Mandi, Kangra, Kullu and Chamba districts on which 33.33% subsidy was being provided upto the loan of Rs. one lakh. So far 17,000 sheep breeders had been brought under the ambit of Bhed Palak Bima Yojna in the State. He said that under marketing intervention scheme, Rs. 100 crore modern marketing yard was being constructed at Parala in district Shimla for the farmers and horticulturists. Rs. 3.54 crore was being spent on setting up of modern vegetable pack house at Nadaun in Hamirpur district. Chief Minister urged the members of State BJP Kisan Morcha to disseminate the various schemes being implemented for welfare of the farmers and common-man by the Government. Sh. Pyare Lal Sharma, President, BJP Kisan Morcha welcomed the Chief Minister and said that such Kisan Sammelans would be organized in other parts of the districts also. Sh. I.D. Dhiman, Education Minister, Smt. Urmil Thakur, MLA, Sh. Des Raj Sharma, Distt. BJP President, Sh. Ram Swaroop Sharma, Distt. BJP General Secretary, Sh. R.S. Mankotia, Chairman, Kangra Central Cooperative Bank, and other prominent people were present on the occasion.
