INVC, Delhi, The Union Minister for Culture Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch has said that there is ample scope for innovation and entrepreneurship in culture sector. Addressing the 10th Convocation Ceremony of National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology here today, she said that the way our country is evolving, the opportunities will continuously expand. Exhorting the students who have passed out through various courses, she said they have to act in the spirit of trusteeship and contribute substantially to their roots. Speaking at the Convocation, Minister of State for HRD, Dr. Shashi Tharoor said that the heritage tourism must be developed and recognised as an organised industry. He said that this kind of tourism should be taken up as a part of overall development strategy. Such an effort can enhance the economic sustainability of local communities by providing employment and opportunities for growth of small scale industries. Stating that Art and Culture heritage constitute an essential engine for economic development, the Minister said it will have an overall impact through job creation including improving household income, property appreciation and small business promotion. He also advised to use new method and technology for better understanding of our heritage and device ways of preserving it for the coming generation. Smt. Katoch conferred degrees to the students on the occasion. Secretary Culture Smt. Sangita Gairola and Vice-Chancellor, National Museum Institute Dr. V. Venu were also present at the convocation ceremony.
