Internationally acclaimed to be the pioneers of hospitality, The Oberoi Group received several awards and accolades for its excellence in various fields of hospitality, at the recently concluded Hotelier India Awards 2010, announced recently in New Delhi.

Celebrating excellence in every aspect of hospitality, Hotelier India honored fourteen winners across various fields in the industry, of which The Oberoi Group was the recipient of five awards. General Manager of the Year was awarded to Sanju Soni from Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai; while Chef Ravi Tej Nath from Trident, Gurgaon received the Chef of the Year honor. Reuben Kataria and Sanjiv Uppal from The Oberoi, New Delhi received the F&B Manager of the Year and Laundry Manager of the Year awards respectively. Mr. Soni also accepted the Unsung Hero of the Year award, dedicated to the employees of The Oberoi, Mumbai and Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai, for the valor and courage showcased during the events of 26/11.

The jury, comprising of stalwarts from the industry, conferred Mr. P.R.S. Oberoi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, EIH Ltd,  with the coveted Life Time Achievement Award. The award was collected by Arjun Oberoi, Chief Planning Officer and Joint Managing Director, on behalf of Mr. Oberoi, who could not attend the awards.

The Oberoi Group, founded in 1934, operates 31 hotels and cruisers under the luxury ‘Oberoi’ and five star ‘Trident’ brands in India, Egypt, Mauritius, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. The Group is also engaged in flight catering, managing airport restaurants, travel and tour services, car rentals, project management and corporate air charters.

  1. It is a shame that the famous HOTELS magazine would recognize P.R.S.Oberoi. He did not work until he was 40, treats his employees like dirt yelling and screaming at his managers, and throws his people on the street once they reach retirement age.
    His employees respect only in fear of him because they know he will snuff them out if they look the wrong way.

    He left his employees on the street during 26/11 and only did something when the Taj owner took action immediately to take care of employees.
