
Dr Bibek Debroy, the Chief Guest said in his convocation address to the students, “You are now setting out on a new path ready to take on the world. Your stint at The NorthCap University has equipped you with the requisite skills and you are now a very important part of society. Only about 10% of the youth are fortunate to get higher education in India and you are a privileged part of it”. Advising students, Dr Debroy said, “There are limited things that a Government can do to bring in demographic dividend and Government cannot bring in change alone. India can only change and will change if you all are a part of the process of bringing glory to the country. This is the country you have inherited from your forefathers and you have been entrusted to build a prosperous India for future generations.”
835 students were awarded degrees in their respective disciplines, including 506 from BTech, 128 from MTech, 10 from BSc Maths (Hons), 14 from MSc (Maths), 38 from BBA, 30 from BCom (Hons), 16 from BSc Eco (Hons), 34 from MBA, 53 from BBA-LLB (H), 3 from LLM. 3 PhD scholars from the University also received their degrees during the Convocation. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded to 38 candidates who topped the list in their respective streams.
Earlier, the Convocation started amidst the chanting of mantras and the academic procession. Later, the Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Brig. SK Sharma (Retd) presented the Annual Report 2016 of The NorthCap University, Gurugram. Speaking at the occasion he said, “The NorthCap University plays a crucial role in preparing students for a sound professional career. Our mission is to develop competent professionals who are innovative, analytical and independent. We strive to empower our youth capital with skills, abilities and attitude so that they become a catalyst for change.”The Convocation ended with the oath taking ceremony by the students.
After receiving her degree an elated student Sanya Gambhir, Gold Medalist, Dept of CSE&IT who is the overall topper of the batch said, “I feel adulated as this is my step towards women empowerment. I am thankful to the University for providing me quality education that will always give me a competitive edge in my career and withstand the ups and downs of life.”
