Anurag Thakur, MP presided over a meeting of progressive farmers, representatives of Kisan Unions, Non-Governmental Organizations, Agriculture Specialists and with representatives of International Companies dealing in Agriculture Sector at New Delhi today.
He said that the meeting was aimed to reach upon the means and ways as to how the agricultural productivity be enhanced and the farmers may get remunerative prices for their produce and not play in the hands of middlemen.
It was decided to share the expertise and experience amongst the farmers of the country. The farmers were made aware of various techniques and were given innovative suggestions as how to increase the agriculture production in different climatic conditions of Indian Sub Continent.

The problems being faced by the farmers in marketing their produce, that of availability of cold storage near to their respective areas, transportation etc. was discussed in detail, said he.

Shri Thakur said that the matter would be taken up with Central Government to provide appropriate relief and compensate the farmers in case of loss of crops due to natural calamities and bad weather conditions.
