Tamir Kobrin has been named general manager of The Leela Palace New Delhi. With nearly 20 years of hospitality experience in the United States, Caribbean, Europe, Middle East and South-East Asia, Kobrin has taken on the opportunity to manage The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts’ flagship hotel in New Delhi.

After earning a diploma in hotel management from Les Roches Hotel Management School followed by the successful completion of a senior development programme at Cornell University, Kobrin started his career with the Three Kings Hotel in Basel, Switzerland.  This immersion into the hospitality industry laid the foundation for Kobrin who went on work with top luxury hotels in Europe and the United States over the next decade. When Asia called, Kobrin eagerly accepted a position in Cambodia where he joined the Raffles Grand Hotel D’ Angkor, as resident manager. Kobrin continued to lead teams in various operational capacities at The Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong where he served as front office manager, Aleenta Resorts in Hua Hin and Phang Nga/ Phuket, where he headed the opening, development and expansion of the group. Prior to joining The Leela, Kobrin was based in the Northeast of the United States and responsible for the pre-opening of the Stone House 1854 in Little Compton, Rhode Island.

In 2008, Kobrin joined the opening team appointed by The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts as general manager to oversee pre-opening, opening and operations of the award-winning Leela Palace Udaipur. The 80 luxuriously-appointed rooms and suites at the property were designed to showcase the uninterrupted, captivating views of romantic Udaipur, the heritage city, the Aravalli hills and the City Palace. The elegant and contemporary interiors are embellished with traditional elements of Rajasthan design and artistry.

Operational experience, multi-property management, refurbishment and renovation projects across different hotel and resort categories are distinguishing facets of his career in hospitality, while his command over eight languages enhances his ability to effectively lead diverse cultural teams.

On spearheading the newest project of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, says Kobrin, “Following the successful launch and positioning of The Leela Palace Udaipur, I see my appointment as an exciting challenge, once again. India is emerging as a strong super power contender and the honour of leading the young and dynamic Leela team at the most opportune time of growth in the nation’s capital is extremely exciting. This, combined with managing the newest hotel in India – one of the finest, well-built properties in the world -allows me to strive for even greater excellence. I am eager to raise the bar in hospitality excellence for the brand and the country.”

Welcoming the seasoned hotelier, Rajiv Kaul, president of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts said, “Tamir is a highly accomplished professional and we welcome his multi-cultural experience in the hospitality industry. I am confident that he will be successful in positioning The Leela Palace New Delhi as one of the most exclusive hotels in the country.”
