New Delhi :  said that India has withdrawn all its troops before the scheduled time. In fact, the Muizzu government had set a deadline of May 10 for the withdrawal of Indian military personnel. President Muizzu is seen as a pro-China leader. During last year’s presidential election campaign, Muizzu’s main pledge was to send back 90 Indian soldiers deployed in Maldives. In the media briefing, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the first and second batch of Indian soldiers have reached India.

Now technical personnel will look after the operation of three aviation platforms. This happened when Maldives Foreign Minister Musa Jamir visited India. During this, he met Indian Foreign Minister S. Met Jaishankar. Bilateral relations and regional security issues were discussed between the two leaders.

Chief spokesperson of the President’s Office, Heena Waleed, said that the last batch of Indian Army deployed in Maldives has been brought back to India. He further said that details of the number of troops deployed will be released later. Let us tell you that the Indian Army was deployed in Maldives for the operation and maintenance of two helicopters and Dornier aircraft, which were gifted by India itself. Earlier, the Maldives government had announced that 51 military personnel were sent back to India on Monday. Maldives government earlier informed that 89 Indian military personnel are present here. India and Maldives had agreed to withdraw the remaining military personnel by May 10.

A tense situation arose between the two countries (India and Maldives) after President Muizzu insisted on the withdrawal of Indian military personnel. In fact, Maldives is known as a major maritime neighbor country for India in the Indian Ocean. Maldives holds a special place in projects like Sagar and Neighborhood First Policy.
