Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, Union Minister of Power today said the government was fully committed to the development of the power sector. Power like a mother is the soul of the Nation. The GDP which is the growth rate of a nation depends on power generation. In coming twenty years, there will be four lakh MW of power generation which will take country`s GDP in double digits, the minister said while addressing new entrants at the NTPC Induction Programme held at Vigyan Bhawan. Shri Moily urged the young engineers to make a difference in the Power Sector by their hard work, dedication and contribution to the cause of Nation Building.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri K.C. Venugopal, Minister of State for Power said that the Power Sector has great opportunities. The government is committed to augment the power generation to benefit the nation.
Welcoming the young engineers, Power Secretary, Shri P Uma Shankar said the Power Sector provides a unique opportunity to pursue corporate career and also serve the country. There are still a large number of people who need to be connected by power. Pricing of power plays a very important role and government will look into it, he said.
