The banks should give timely financial assistance to the farmers so that they could utilise the same in the hour of need : Bhupinder Singh Hooda



Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda today e-launched 36 new Branches of HDFC Bank in Haryana, here today, out of which 26 are in rural areas. He also launched 'Bharat' Credit Card of HDFC Bank to facilitate the farmers. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hooda said that there were already 127 branches of HDFC Bank in Haryana and with this launch, there would be 163 branches in the State. He appreciated that the HDFC Bank has a plan to open 30 more such branches in the State by the end of this financial year. He said that expansion of banking network alongwith decentralisation of operations would improve the access to banking services and reduce transaction costs for the clients. He said that opening of such new branches would enable the banks to channelise the savings of the under-served population of our economy and offer new business avenues for lending to this segment. He said that he has high hopes that HDFC Bank by opening branches in the rural areas of the State would join hands with the Government for the development of the State. He said that the banks should give timely financial assistance to the farmers so that they could utilise the same in the hour of need. He said that it should try to raise the living standard of BPL families. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Aditya Puri said that that the launch of rural branches would further enhance the thrust to achieve the mission of financial inclusion across the country and reflects the bank's commitment towards the upliftment of rural areas of the State. He said that it was the only bank offering various products in rural areas. These 36 branches of HDFC Bank have been launched in Agroha and Uklana Mandi in district Hissar, Alewa and Keorak in district Kaithal, Babain, Jhansa and Malikpur in district Kurukshetra, Bapoli in district Panipat, Chhachharauli, Naharpur, Thana Chappar, Sadhaura, Mustafabad and Radaur in district Yamunanagar, Ding Mandi, Mallekhan and Kalanwali in district Sirsa. Similarly, other branches have been opened in Farukhnagar, Cyber City 2, Qutab Market in district Gurgaon, Jui, Siwani and Tosham in district Bhiwani, Kharkhoda in district Sonepat, Kunjpura, Nigdu, Phoosgarh and Jalmana in district Karnal, Panjokhra Sahib, Saha, Shahzadpur and Kesri in district Ambala, Pilu Khera in district Jind, Satnali in district Mahendergarh, Bhuna in district Fatehabad and Raipur Rani in district Panchkula. Haryana Finance Minister, Mr. H.S. Chattha, Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr. P.K Chaudhery, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Chattar Singh,Principal OSD, Mr M.S.Chopra, Additional Principal Secretary, Dr. K.K Khandelwal, Deputy Principal Secretary Mr. R.S. Doon, Principal Secretary, Finance, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal were also present.
